It's midnight here, but I'm still awake. Not really sure why I'm not feeling sleepy though, I didn't even take my siesta. Yeah, it's no more news that football activities are on hold due to the pandemic. However, I hope this does not take Barcelona's mind off Lautaro Martinez, who has been seen by many and even Messi himself as the perfect replacement for the aging Luiz Suarez. The Catalan club has been on a hunt for the 22 year old Inter striker, and it seems they may likely go for it if they don't get distracted by the current situation. Barcelona knows they can't afford not to sign the Argentine, as the likes of Dembele, Griezemann and even the recently signed Braithwaite aren't living up to expectations. Messi who is also Barcelona's captain with so much influence in the club has also given his go-ahead for Barca to sign the Argentine goal poacher.
Having played alongside Messi in the national team, I believe Martinez won't have much problem settling down at Camp Nou, as Messi will be there to create the chances as Usual. “He is spectacular, he has incredible talent, you could see he was going to be a great player and now he has exploded and is showing it. He is very strong, he is brilliant in one-on-one situations, he scores goals, he takes on anyone in the area," Messi told Mundo Deportivo in February while he was being interviewed about the young star. I personally think Lautaro is one of the best forwards in Europe currently, underrate him and he will make you pay for it. He has got the pace, the strength and stamina to mount pressure on the defense, and he is very clinical in front of post. This is the killer striker Barcelona needs now, and I won't be happy if Martinez slips through our fingers. Under the current Argentine coach Lionel Scaloni who took over in 2018, Lautaro Martinez has proved he deserves a starting shirt. He has netted 8 times in 16 appearances under Scaloni. So I think Barcelona cannot afford not to sign him.
