The top five leagues in Europe seems to have reached their end and the title winners have been crown accordingly. While many fans have continued to punch the air in celebration of an awesome season, others are left wishing their various teams had a better outing in the just concluded season. In Seria A, the Old Ladies emerged unsurprisingly victorious and not so many attached much to their crown. In the French League 1, PSG had a rollercoaster ride and seem invincible.

Over there in Spain, Barcelona emerged Victorious once again with few matches to play, even though Diego Simeone's Athletico Madrid tried their best to keep the defending champions on their toes. However, the catalan giants finished strong and grab the league, and are still hopeful of picking another domestic silverware in the name of Copa Del rey when they face Valencia in the finals in no distant time.

In the English Premier League, it wasn't an easy ride for the eventual winners Manchester City, as Liverpool had to give them a run for their money until the last day. Despite being the defending champions, Pep Guardiola's side were far from being sure what was gonna happen until the last match that saw them lift the trophy. At some point, I had wished there was two trophies so Liverpool will have something to show for such stellar performance in English league this season.

Now, there is one more league that I haven't mentioned, can you guess? Well, it's the German Bundesliga. If you're a Barcelona fan, you will sure understand how bad a season we just finished, despite winning the league and possibly the Copa Del Rey. All I wanted was the UEFA champions league, it was our priority and Messi's quest as a captain. He fought for it, but he couldn't always do it every time alone, and so when he couldn't inspire the team by scoring the goals himself, there is always a possibility of a slack.

Apart from wishing Barcelona to win the champions league this season which got chartered by a spirited and determined Liverpool side, my second wish for this season was to see Borussia Dortmund lift the German Bundesliga. I know many may wonder why I wanted Dortmund to win the league, well, I just wanted a different team to lift the trophy as I have grown weary of Bayern Munich's dominance of German football. I love competitiveness and I got even more interested when Dortmund were leading on the log in the first limb of the season before they ceded their spot to the defending champions.

I felt bad after seeing Bayern come from behind to win the league despite the hard fight Dortmund fought just to win the trophy. I saw the hunger in their eyes and the zeal to kiss that Bundesliga trophy again, but their competent best was not just enough. They fought till the last day, and despite registering a convincing 2-0 over Monchengladbach on the final day of the season, Bayern's 5-1 victory over Eintracht Frankfurt was morr emphatic, as it sent the trophy to the Bavarians. Can't really tell how Dortmund's January nine points lead disappeared without a trace, but am pretty sure the 4-2 defeat to Schalke in April left a big crack in their title race which they couldn't mend.

Dortmund's plight and hard luck has all added up to compound my melancholy this season. Dortmund's coach Lucien Favre couldn't sweep his disappointment under the carpet, as he said " It is a disappointment. Sure, we did not give up hope. At one stage it was 1-1 between Bayern and Eintracht Frankfurt, then Bayern immediately scored to make it 2-1. We still believed in it, but most of all we focused on our game, on our task. We did not look much at the other teams' results." I just hope they will stage another resilient pursuit of the league title next season, I just don't wanna see Bayern winning as of right.
