Good day everyone, hope it's not as sunny over there as it is in this part of West Africa? Feel like blabbing a little about the ongoing FIFA U-20 World Cup. Ready? Alright let's go!

There is an ongoing FIFA U-20 World Cup going on in Poland, and as interesting as the tournament appears, I haven't noticed many people talking about it on scorum just yet. Maybe because the competition is still at the group stages and the media isn't hyping it as other tournament. In addition to that, I think the UEFA Champions league Final between Liverpool and Tottenham seems to have taken the whole attention of everyone in this space.

Initially, I wasn't really following the games until Yesterday when Nigeria had "a most win" match against Ukraine in their Group D final match. Though the team had secured a comfortable win over Qatar in their opening group game. However, from the highlights that I saw, one could tell that the win wasn't necessarily because of Nigeria's masterclass display, but because of Qatar's weakness and disappointing gameplay. So far so good, the Qatar side has appeared to be a bonus team to other three teams in Group D, as they have been used to grab points easily.

The team has lost all their three group stage matches and are on their way home. Well, Lemme try and restrict my little discussion to the Nigerian team, I can't be more patriotic than that, Lol. After humbling Qatar 4-0 in their opening Group D match, the Paul Aigbogun's led U-20 Flying Eagles team have failed to impress many Nigerian supporters in their subsequent games. After falling to a 2-0 defeat to USA in their second game, the Nigerian side and the entire coaching crew have come under huge criticisms as regards their outing.

The team went into their last group match with Ukraine with just 3 points to their name. Ukraine with 6 points already, knew they had already qualified and a draw would be a perfect result for them. Even though the Nigerian flying eagles were far from expectations, they managed to crawl into the knockout stage through the eye of a needle after their game against the European side ended in a 1-1 draw. It wasn't a display any Nigerian supporter would be proud of, as the team lacked so much composure going forward.

It was a fair result for the Nigerian contingent as the draw was enough to push them through the round of 16. However, their general performance against Ukraine in Bielsko Biala was not Ovation worthy, and that's a red flag in their possible of going beyond that stage if they don't fix their cracks before the knockout stages kicksoff. With USA recording a win over Quata the same night in the other Group D match, Nigeria qualified as best losers after finishing third in the group and may likely meet with Italy or Senegal on Monday.

Well, I don't know, but I doubt the capability of the Nigerian team I saw yesterday going far in the competition. I haven't seen a worse Nigerian team for years now, and I feel I should be realistic here. The team is playing without coordination from what I've noticed, the defense inability to link up the ball with the midfield makes their build up to attack so messed up. I don't just fancy Rabiu on the right flank of the defense, he lacks confidence and I wish the coach could read this. Nigeria rarely pulled a threat to Ukraine defense and they had to rely on the refrees Penalty to net their only goal after squandering the first penalty.

In summary, I admonish the Coaching staff to right their wrongs and leave no stone unturned in mending these cracks in the team if they must progress, Fortune may not come in handy going forward.
