The international break have been interesting, but not without some drama for the media to feed on, in fact, these media stunts and controversies have a way of adding additional flavour to the game of football and other sports in general. For instance, a normal superficial comment or facial expression by a coach like Jose Mourinho can always be enough to get the fans attention. It's just there to help add fun to sports, and most times the media blow some of these dramas out of proportion or embellish it to attract more attention.
This sometimes doesn't go down well with the athletes involved, as the media may in the process sugarcoating their headlines, pass a message that doesn't reflect the athlete involved. This is the current situation of the Uruguayan striker Edison Cavani, who have been painted by the media as harbouring grudges against his teammate Neymah after the duo clashes in a friendly match between Brazil and Uruguay that saw Neymah pick up an injury.
I have been trying to unravel why the media is suggesting or trying to portray the Uruguayan forward as bearing grudges against his teammate. I have actually watch matches between Spain and Portugal were Sergio Ramos tackles Christiano Ronaldo as if he doesn't know Ronaldo is his Real Madrid teammate. I do see many players from the same country play against each other in club levels as if no blood held them together, and they still let everything die off on the blast of the final whistle. It was just a game!
These guys are professionals and are only expected to do their jobs anywhere they find themselves, that's what they are paid to do after all. They can shake hands before the kick off, hug one another even after the game, but once the match is on, all affiliations are expected to be kept at bay. A player wouldn't have to allow a goal against his team just because the person on the offensive is his teammate at club level or country, that's against the philosophy of professionalism. And I wish the media will know when to apply the breaks to avoid defaming or putting some athletes in the bad light.

Cavani Spits Fire As He Reacts To The Media.
The Uruguayan forward could not keep mute this time around, as he seized the opportunity presented to him to express his disappointment on the media and how they are going about spreading an unintentional news about his relationship with Neymar. He angrily denied being at logger head the Brazilian superstar, as both of them are teammates at PSG. He wasn't just happy that the media have consistently been pointing fingers at him for having a personal issue with his teammate. Who would be happy? It's just very disturbing, especially when this is not the case.
The said rift between the two players can be traced to the little brawl they had in September 2017 in a match against Lyon. PSG got a penalty, Cavani wanted to take the penalty, but guess what, Neymar wanted to take the penalty too. For some seconds the two players were seen arguing on who will take the spot kick before Dani Alves came from behind to drag the ball from Cavani and handed it over to Neymar to take. Of course, Neymar and Alves are from Brazil, you couldn't have expected anything different.
I can't recall if an order came from the stance to permit Neymar to take the penalty, however, he later missed it. Since then, the world have been watching the posture of both players towards each other, and the media have been waiting on the wind to take advantage of any suspicion of hatred. The recent international break presented them with something to boost their headlines with.
==========================================================================================================================================
The two players came against each other last weekend as Uruguay played against Brazil in a very thrilling friendly match. Edison Cavani got himself booked for a challenge he carried out on his PSG teammate. However, after the friendly game between Uruguay and France on Tuesday, Cavani was again questioned on his relationship status with Neymar, and he minced no words in expressing his disappointment on the media.
"Neymar? You need to stop this. It's you the media that are creating something from nothing," Cavani said in the mixed zone after the game.
"On the outside, everybody has his own life. On the inside, everyone works for the best interests of the club." He said.
With Neymar and Mbappe down with injuries in their last friendly games, PSG will sure be praying for their fast recovery. PSG will be returning to league action this Saturday against Toulouse, and also preparing for the big Champions League Clash against a dreaded Liverpool side on Wednesday.
With Cavani having come out to deny any strain relationship between him and Neymar, don't you think the media is going too far, or do you think the media have good reason to think so? Lemme hear your thought on this.
