It was a terrifying Friday for Southampton and their home fans in the Premier league, as they got shocked by an electrifying Leicester side. It's one of those scoreline one can easily identify with Manchester City, maybe arguably Liverpool considering their current status in world football, but coming from Leicester City has continued to beat every imagination of mine. Yea, I know we have a spirited and highflying Leicester side that no one can underrate, but a 9-0 win over a home team like Southampton at St. Mary's in the English Premier is what no one could have dreamt about. Brendan Rodgers will be very satisfied by the performance of his side as he watched with pleasure the annihilation of Southampton on Friday's league encounter. It's not only about the 3 points now, the win at St. Mary's could be a signal that the Foxes are coming to contend for the league title, thereby telling Manchester City and Liverpool that it's not gonna be two club thing again this season. We just can't write off this team now, especially after seeing what they've been doing since the beginning of the season. The scoreline is a record breaking one for the Foxes, as they seem to be the only away team that have recorded such a win in football league history, and it also meant they equalled Manchester United's 9-0 win over Ipswich in 1995. Leicester have played 10 games already this season in the league, they have won six, drew two and have as well succumbed to two defeats so far. For me, it's a good form for a team that wants to keep their hope of qualifying for the Champions league alive, or even to contend for the League title. After that huge win over Southampton on Friday, Brendan Rodgers side are now sitting on the second spot with 20 points to their name. Though Liverpool are leading the table with 5 points advantage pending when they play Tottenham on Sunday. Leicester have also shown an incredible scoring form this season, having netted 25 goals already to become the second highest goal scoring team in the league after Manchester City(29 goals).

Leicester coach was all smiles and couldn't hide his delight while commenting after the match. "I was very pleased with our work rate. We scored some great goals and were very hungry tonight. I'm very pleased with how we defended and how ruthless we were. I'm very proud to stand and be the manager of that team. We wanted to get the ball back quickly and attack again. A mark of good sides is you don't let up and we certainly did that in the second half. We were ruthlessly simple in our game. When you're so many goals up, you can easily slow and lose focus. To be a top team you must be clinical." Rodgers told BBC. His side were very emphatical about their win on Friday as they went 5-0 up before halftime. Jamie Vardy and Ayoze Perez both grabbed a hat-trick against Southampton, and Vardy's penalty goal which was also the last goal of the match placed him as the league's top scorer(9 goals) ahead of Manchester City's Sergio Aguero and Chelsea's Tammy Abraham who both have 8 goals so far. A 12th minute Red card on Ryan Bertrand had set Southampton up for one of their most ignominious defeats at home. For the Visitors, it was an opportunity to prey on their host and left no stone unturned in the raid. The game ended 9-0 in favour of Leicester and that victory could be opening a new curve in the contention for the Title. For some time now, it's been a two team affair, seeing a team like Leicester who have proved their mettle before back in contention could be an interesting Spectacle to behold. You just can't underrate them now. City and Liverpool can start adjusting their sails, because it seems Leicester is about to join the party.
