It's no more getting funny for Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp in the English Premier League, as they found themselves now playing second fiddle to the Champions Manchester City on the table. There were great fear from all quarters that this moment of despair and slack by Liverpool will come. However, they struggled to hold on and many thought they would survive the pressure this time. Hell No! They couldn't hold on, and it's no more a matter of them winning all their games now, they will also have to hope that Manchester City drops points too.

It wasn't a day to remember for Liverpool fans and more particularly Mohammed Salah. The Egyptian superhero has been one of the striking force for Liverpool since his arrival at Anfield. His value in the market has skyrocketed due to his unrelenting goal scoring form and contribution to the team. However, something have continued to elude him, winning a trophy with the reds. Salah saw himself miss two golden opportunities that would have altered the outcome of the game.

The Egyptian Super Star may have had a bad Champions league final experience last season, which saw him replaced after sustaining a shoulder injury occasioned by Ramos. He may have ended up not laying his hands on the European Silverware, but these two golden opportunities that he missed against Everton will hurt him more. The game ended 0-0, thereby allowing Pep Guardiola's Manchester city to reclaim the top spot with 29 games having been played so far. Liverpool now sits second with 70 points to their name, while the Citizens are topping the table with 71 points.

Before now, the ball was in Liverpool's court, but the result against Everton means their fate of winning the English Premier league this campaign is no more in their hands. The remaining matches of the season will see Liverpool try to wet the rock with their tongue, as they will now have to fight for the title the hard way. It's not always easy to topple an in-form City team at this point in the league, however, this is the premier league were anything is possible. The Citizens have prayed for this Moment for a long time, and I don't see them gambling it again.

Everton proved a hard nut to crack for Liverpool just like Manchester United did at Old Trafford about a week ago, as their resilience saw them hold on to a 0-0 draw against their visitors. You may not understand, but this particular stalemate sparked a joyous feeling from the Etihad. City fans will sure must have been as happy as those at Goodison Park. Even though it leaves City just a point ahead of Liverpool, the ecstasy of the moment cannot be quantified.

A striker of Salah's status could have done better to salvage the day when his heroics was needed the most, but he somehow allowed profligacy to take a chunk of him. They say "opportunity calls but once," but Salah's own came twice, however he failed to seize the day for Klopp. Despite having scored a whooping 64 goals for Liverpool in 90 appearances, a goal would have been more appreciated in the match. The remaining nine games in the league will mean a lot, and a further slip could become more disastrous for their title hopes.

The Prolific Egyptian goal poacher's first opportunity had come in the first half when he was played in by Fabinho, however, he wasn't able to put the ball past an experienced Jordan Pickford. And then came the second chance in the second half for Salah to right his wrongs. One would have expected him to do better after Zouma's slight mistake. However, his lack of composure saw him controlling the ball like a toddler, and further hesitancy saw Michael Keane track back to salvage the situation with a wonderful tackle. Well, from the look on his face, he knew he had wasted another chance to turn the table around.

It will be a bit too harsh to heap all the blames on the Egyptian forward even though his was the biggest chances of the match, I think the team have to take responsibility of their flop. No one would have expected them to repeat the same feat they did against Watford, but their buildup and execution against Everton deserves a limited ovation. They got more sluggish as the game went on, being too much in a horry and losing possession in the process.

Liverpool will sure look back to that game against Everton if they fail to win this league after 29 years of pursuit. Though it may be a fatal slack in their title pursuit, Liverpool still have their defense as a source of motivation ahead of the remaining nine games. The draw against Everton made it their fifth clean sheet in succession. Well, when you have a top defender like Van Dijk at the heart of the defense, you wouldn't expect anything less. If the reds must surmount what lies ahead of them, then they need to double their impact and make sure they don't leave any stone unturned. For me, it's not over until it's over.
