It's no more news that the Spanish champions are currently firing from all cylinders, as they continue to muscle their way past top opponents to keep their quest of grabbing a treble this season alive. You will recall that the Spanish giants defeated eliminated their arch rivals Real Madrid in the Copa del rey semifinal just few days ago to book a place in the final.

That having been said, the Messi led Side are also sitting comfortably on top of the La liga table, with little or nothing to fear. In Europe, they will be looking forward to sending Lyon Packing from the Champions League when both sides clash in their second leg game. The first leg had ended 0-0 with Barcelona being the luckiest team of the night. Maybe Barcelona didn't wanna push so hard, but the second leg will show how ready Barcelona are towards lifting a treble for the third time.

Of course Lyon are likely not to survive the onslaught at the Camp Nou, despite putting up a resilient performance against Barcelona in their first leg match. With the current form of Messi and Luis Suarez, not many will place their money on Lyon to qualify. This is football though, as many will say.

However, am confident Barcelona will not leave any stone unturned against Lyon in Spain. For me, Barcelona's season will only be a successful one if they can lay their hands on the Champions League trophy. Messi in particular is eyeing that prize, as it's gonna be an awesome moment for him as a captain of a champions league winning team.

With Messi and Barcelona all cruising to another treble, Lots of questions have been asked, and the most pronounced one has always been, "will Messi be able to lead this team that depends so much on him to another treble?" I can still remembered how bored Lionel Messi was when they painstakingly defeated Valencia in November 2014. However, six months later will see the Argentine talisman fire Barcelona to their second treble. Making the Catalan giants the first European club to grab a second continental treble.

Since then, the European super club have watch their dream of achieving repeating such feat become a mere fragment of their imagination. However, four years down the line now and it seems that quest have been reignited. And as we can see, Messi is once again on fire even more than he was in 2015 and 2009. His influence and dread on the pitch continues to send shivers off any defense he comes in contact with. The season have seen him proved countless times that he is ready to shoulder the team to another epic glory.

After Messi was handed the Captain hand band at the beginning of this season, the father of three made it clear that he was gonna gun for the European title this time around. Motivation hasn't been his problem in this campaign, as he has shown time without number that he is the man to watch out for. With Real Madrid having lifted the cup three consecutive times, Messi have watched in agony for long and it's time to take back what belongs to them. Even after Barcelona won a domestic double last season, Messi did not mince words in saying that it was now time to conquer Europe once again.

Since then, Lionel Messi has been playing like a man who is powered by electronic device, taking on teams one after another, wrecking havoc in defensive line and leaving opponent fans in melancholy. Despite the current Barcelona team not been as strong as the former ones that won the trebles, the Argentine talisman is determined to push towards the finish line with this squad. The Spanish giants had defeated Madrid 3-0 on Wednesday in their copa del rey semifinal second leg clash, despite not playing so well. In fact, the team always finds away of getting away unscathed.

As former Real Madrid boss Vicente Del Bosque pointed out in explaining why he rates the Argentine above Cristiano Ronaldo, "Messi almost always plays well. There are players who never do anything wrong and he has an impressive consistency." With Messi appearing to be shouldering the responsibility of the team, it's expedient that the coach should play him with caution to avoid fatigue or injuries. The absence of Messi could herald the end of their quest. While many are expecting Messi to wane with age, the father of three is becoming more dreaded than he was. The battle for the third treble is on, and it will be too risky to bet against Barcelona lifting a treble this season.

What's your take on this, do you see Barcelona grabbing a treble this season? I would like to hear your thought.
