One of the most anticipated moments we all have been waiting for in the English Premier League is finally here and it promises to be an interesting spectacle to behold. For some Football analysts, we will be witnessing "The best of football in English League," certainly not a game any football enthusiast will be glad to miss. It's gonna be a clash of the titans at Anfield on Sunday when the current European Champions Liverpool host the league's defending Champions Manchester City. It's an encounter that its outcome may go a long way to shape the journey towards winning the league this season by both sides. If Liverpool wins, it's gonna go a long way to deplete the pressure currently mounting on them, as it will mean that City, their rival will be 9 points behind them. A victory for the Citizens tomorrow will mean that Liverpool's lead have been slashed to three points coupled with more pressure. Despite Leicester and Chelsea showing some signs of joining the contest for the league, many are yet to be convinced that we have more than two favorites (Liverpool and City) for the trophy.

Going into tomorrow's clash at Anfield, Liverpool is sitting at the pinnacle of the league with 31 points after Eleven matches so far. Jurgen Klopp's side have recorded 10 wins and one draw in the league. This stats shows how resilient the European Champions are and their determination not to leave any stone unturned, not after they got toppled by City at the tail end of last season, despite leading the Citizens with seven points or thereabout after the Christmas break. For Manchester City, it's definitely not the best of stats for them going into this game on Sunday, especially when compared to that of Liverpool. So far so good, Pep Guardiola's Manchester city have recorded Eight wins, two defeats and one draw in the league. They are 6 points behind their league rivals Liverpool and a win for them on Sunday against a highflying Klopp's side will bring them closer to their dream of lifting the league for a record third time in a row.

However, Pep's City seem to have got an advantage over Liverpool ahead of their clash, and that's their scoring form. Yeah, the Citizens appear more clinical than the reds ahead of this encounter, having scored a whooping 34 goals, as against Liverpool's 25 goals. In fact, Leicester have more goals(27) than Liverpool in the league, and this scoring form could reflect in this Sunday's Clash. City's front line for me are better positioned in terms of form heading into Sunday's game. Sergio Kun Aguero who has just one goal less than Vardy who is topping the league with 10 goals, is currently City's top scorer and could wreck havoc in Liverpool's defence if not tamed. Raheem Sterling on the other hand has scored 7 goals already this season and that's more than Mane's(6) who is Liverpool's top scorer. Salah hasn't been that prolific in front of goal this season. The Egyptian so far has netted 5 goals in the league and this is below expectations considering his feats in previous seasons. Sergio Aguero who will be leading City's attack against Liverpool on Sunday minced no words in recognising how tough it's gonna be to beat Liverpool, and they will need to be extraordinary for them to get out of Anfield with all 3 points. Talking to France Football, the Argentine forward said, “They are the only team in the league that can hurt us. They have been chasing a new league title for years. These last four seasons, Liverpool have become a very strong team and are now fighting with us to win the Premier League. ” It is worthy of note that Liverpool haven't lost to Manchester City in their last 16 encounters at Anfield and I doubt if Klopp will wanna mutilate that age long record.

Having said that, I will also draw your attention to the fact The Citizens haven't lost to Liverpool in their last five matches, despite being unable to record a win against the reds in their last 16 away games at Anfield. Jurgen Klopp's arrival as Liverpool's coach has transformed the reds to one of the most dreadful teams in European football and are now a force to reckon with in all competitions. Under Klopp, the reds have only suffered one defeat in their last 50 matches in the league, and that was against City in January. Since then, they've gone 28 games in the Premier league without any loss, isn't that an amazing record? City surely knows they have a mountain to climb going into Sunday's game, and if they must come out unscathed, it will take extra efforts to get that. But they is hope for Pep's side if they explore their chances properly. Liverpool have always pride itself as the team with one of the best defensive line for some time now, however, their slack of recent can be a dangling hope for City's attack to feed on. The reds have conceded in their last five games at home and playing against City could amplify that crack in their back line.

My Prediction: Liverpool 1-2 Manchester City.
