It's been one of those seasons the Portuguese captain will rue over despite helping the Old Ladies lift the Italian Seria A. Perhaps his worst run in the past decade, netting only 28 goals for his new club this season. The last time he got less goals was during his last season at Old Traford where he scored 26 goals. Christiano Ronaldo's competent best was not enough to fuel the engine of Allegri's team to the Champions League final as they got kicked out by a young vibrant Ajax team. It hurts him even more because that's perhaps the major reason why Juve spent so much to bring him to Turin.
Having left a legacy in his days in Madrid as a Champions league Messiah or specialist, especially by helping the Los Blancos win the trophy three consecutive times before heading to Turin, Ronaldo was expected to replicate same feat in Juve. There are lots of reasons why his first spell in Italy is one of his worst apart from his inability to score many goals. His arrival at Turin saw him experience one of his roughest start to a league season in a decade, and many doubted him along the line.
His Son's masterful outing for Juventus junior team in his first game which saw the little Ronaldo score four goals gave the media something to feast on. His Dad hasn't been able to score for the Italian Champions after many games, and whlie some media outlet said Ronaldo could get jealous of his son, others said his son's goals may put pressure on the father.
Since his arrival in Juventus, it appears like the Old gods have risen against the former Madrid talisman. Apart from surviving the sting of goal drought, Ronaldo have been enveloped in one of his worst scandals. The Rape case which is currently hanging over his head made many thought he will go down psychologically and perhaps end his career. But despite Mayorga's rape accusations, the five times Best player have refused to throw in the towel.
Few weeks ago, it was peddled around the media that the rape case have been droped against the Portuguese Superhero. However, a top reporter from Der Spiegel reveals that the Portuguese rape case is not closed, but rather in a different court. Rafael Buschmann made it known that after it was not feasible for Mayorga's lawyers to serve Ronaldo with the complaint, they filed it at a federal court. Despite all these, the Portuguese have remained calm and tried to settle into his new home, and it didn't take long for him to find his shooting star.
Ronaldo Adding Smiles To His Bad Season In Portugal
When it comes to international duty and delivering the national team when it matters the most, Christiano Ronaldo no doubt can be picked over most players. He always makes the difference when it appears like the team will go down the drainage. He knows he may never beat his scoring record of 61 goals in Madrid during the 2014/2015 season, but there is something he never fails to do, shouldering Portugal's national team.
Yesterday saw Ronaldo net a breathtaking hat-trick to fire Portugal past a resilient Switzerland side. The 3-1 win ensured that Portugal booked a place in the Nations league Final. The Swiss guys really made it tough for Portugal, but the Portuguese had a talisman in the person of Ronaldo, ans that's all they needed to pull through. They must have missed his individual brilliance during the previous rounds, but the boss came when he was needed the most.
Though Ronaldo is not considered as one of the favorites to win the Ballon d'Or this year, he may be reconsidered if he can win this trophy with Portugal, and also hope Messi doesn't win the Copa America or Salah winning the African Nations Cup.
