Good afternoon friends and sports lovers all over the world. It's sunny over here and the league games are back to up our momentum and keep us on the radar. Lots of actions to expect from our favorite players from across the top leagues. The international break is over and most players are back in their various clubs to continue from were they stopped. While many are gearing towards winning the league, other players have got some glory, prize or even records to break/set. I will be concerning this blog with one of my favorite players in Spain, he is no other person than the Barcelona top-9 "Luis Suarez."

Am really happy to know that the Uruguayan striker will be featuring against Espanyol today, after he sustained a sprain in his right ankle against a resilient Real Betis side before the international break. Sometimes, it's disturbing when one of your favorite players is not fit to feature in a game, especially at this point when Barcelona needs to gather all points to keep their confidence at high level ahead of their tough Champions League clashes with Manchester United side. Suarez was able to train comfortably on Thursday with the team, showing that he will feature in the squad that will be facing Espanyol today.

Most importantly, am delighted for the striker because today's game presents him with closer opportunity to level up or even surpass the goal scoring feat of his fellow country man in Spanish laliga. It will be historic for Luis Suarez if he scores two more goals in the Spanish laliga. His fellow country man Diego Forlan who also happens to have left a great mark in the league by scoring 128 goals during his days in the league, has come out express his opinion towards the possibility of Suarez beating his record and becoming the highest scoring Uruguayan player to play in Spain.

"I don't have the exact data, but I'm still impressed by everything I could contribute to the history of Villarreal and Atletico. Over the years, we give more and more value to the number of goals that were scored. It does make me happy that Luis is the one who will beat my record, though, because of the friendship that we have. "We are both very proud to represent our country in a beautiful way in such a prestigious league," Diego Forlan told MARCA. Personally, I've always adrired the experience of Forlan and his experienced Left foot. Full of maturity in terms of in-pitch activities.

Luis Suarez has proved his mettle since his arrival at the camp Nou from Liverpool in 2014. Not so many players have been able to make the same impact the Uruguayan has made in Barcelona since their arrival. I just don't wanna mention Gareth Bale. The Barcelona forward has been able to net 127 goals so far for the Spanish Champions and is just a strike away from equaling Forlans feat in the league. Diego Forlan in his days had played for Athletico Madrid and Villarreal and was able to net 128 goals for both clubs. The left footed Forlan played a total of 248 matches to arrive at that figure.

However, so far so good, Luis Suarez has played a total of 157 matches for Barcelona in the league, showing that the Barcelona forward has made more impact and have gotten those goals with even lesser games. But come to think of it, Barcelona is a bigger team than Athletico Madrid and Villareal, so it can be argued that Forlan would have scored more goals if he had the chance to play for either Madrid or Barcelona. But that's an argument for another day. Luis has come to become one of the skeletal frame of Ernesto Valverde's team and with his contract with Barcelona lasting till 2021, he is advantaged not only to equal his compatriot's feat, but he will surpass with much more margin.

Diego Forlan and Suarez remains two awesome friends that also have a legendary figure on their country home. Both have played together for long in the Uruguayan national team, but Spain have come to be were they have had the best of the career. Though the Barcelona forward was able to score 91 goals when he played in the Eredivisie and 69 in the Premier League for Liverpool, he owes his best moments of his professional life to the Spanish league. He is 31 and doesn't show any sign that he is going to stop scoring soon. Suarez no doubt has continued to be one of the greatest threat in European football and any defense that underates his striking venom gets paid for such mistake.

Though Suarez has struggled to find his form this season in the Champions League, however, he has not been performing badly in the league. He has 18 goals so far in the league, and have scored 21 in all competition. The other three goals came in the Copa del Rey, and Barcelona seems to be the favorite to lift the cup after sending their arch rivals Madrid packing from the tournament. I've got a feeling that Suarez will net a goal against Espanyol today in few hours time when both teams clash. He seem to enjoy playing against Espanyol though, having scored them nine goals already since his arrival in Spain, and eight of those goals have been in the league.
