Uruguay had no problems in dislodging a not too prepared Ecuador side during their Copa duel at Belo Horizonte. Wait a bit, did I just say they were not prepared? Lol. Let's just say Ecuador were no match for the highflying Uruguayan side. The game culminated in a 4-0 comfortable win for the 15 times champions. There are veterans in this tournament, so you shouldn't be too surprised by the figures.

It was a boring Sunday evening for me and with the Copa America in full swing, I had something to stay busy with. Having watched a very interesting game between Argentina and Columbia a day before, I was looking forward to a tough encounter between Uruguay and Ecuador. However, it appeared to be one sided game as Uruguay had a rollercoaster ride throughout the game. Sometimes, nothing is more boring than watching a football match that you already know who's gonna win just few minutes into the match.

It seemed like Ecuador accepted their fate of an underdog from the very beginning, and a draw would have been an awesome result for them. Apart from sitting back and packing the bus, they tried to frustrate their opponents by being too physical. However, La Celeste made sure they put the game beyond Ecuador's reach despite their seemingly resilience. It didn't take long for them to send their opponents net dancing with the ball in it. Just six minutes into the game and Uruguay were 1-0 up, all thanks to the floodgate opener Nicolas Lodeiro. He scored the goal with the aplomb of a veteran.

The first goal allowed La celeste to settle into the game. It didn't take long for misfortune to visit a weak Ecuador side and compound their already hard situation. A 23rd minute sending off of Quintero after VAR revealed he handled the ball during an aerial challenge deflated the little confidence that was left in the team. A complete team couldn't withstand the firebrand attack of Uruguay, what would you expect now that they were one man down. La Celeste accepted the invitation and feasted on the helpless Ecuador side.

With goal hungry dragons like Edinson Cavani and Barcelona's Luiz Suarez hovering around your goal line, this was indeed a perfect party ground and they left no stone unturned. You can call it Uruguay's simplest start to a major tournament, they really enjoyed the ride. It didn't take long for Edinson Cavani to announce his presence in this year's edition of Copa America, and he did that in a spectacular version. The PSG forward made it 2-0 for La Celeste with a training ground acrobatic volley after Ecuador failed to clear their lines from a corner kick.

"We had our chances in the first half and we took them. That allowed us to manage the game, They went down to 10 men and that allowed us to control the match." Cavani said after the game. Suarez will later make it 3-0 for La Celeste with the expertise of an experienced goal poacher. The past season wasn't that awesome for the Barcelona forward and he has been under criticism from Barcelona fans. He sustained an injury towards the tail end of the season which kept him at the sidelines. However, with his performance against Ecuador and a shaded body weight, the Barcelona striker is ready to make a return to the Starting line up for the Catalans after the Copa.

The first half finished with Uruguay unsurprinsly leading with 3-0, and made sure the second half was a play for fun. La Celeste came into the second half of the game and reduced their attacking gear. They rather preferred to enjoy more possession while the time ticked down. They would have finished the game with a 7-0 margin if they werw Brazil, but for them, there was no need wasting the goals. However, with 12 minutes to go, Ecuador ensured that the score line was even, thanks to an own goal by Arturo Mina to make it 4-0. It's Uruguay's biggest Copa America win since 1967, and they are currently sitting comfortably on top of Group C.
