"Everything is a learning lesson, good and bad, so I am happy with the way things are, and I learned from everything negative. I am in a great space now, so I wouldn't change a thing"_Karen Civil
Being a scorum platform user and a sports enthusiast, lots of events have transpired on the platform and even in the world of football. From the market value of the scr to the dwindling hopes of ICO investors, I've picked lessons from them all. What about the soccer universe itself? As a soccer faithful, have I been able to learn any life lesson(s) from what has been happening in the lives of these players, or have I just been catching fun?
With everyday gone by, the dynamics or perhaps the uncertainties that play out in the world of football leaves me not only with the pleasures that emits from the game, but also Life lessons that 'am informally thought from the happenstance in some players careers.
From the "prodigal son's" life of the Brazilian Neymar jr to the humble rise to stardom by the Egyptian Mohammed Salah, this game is never bereft of something to throw at our feet, it all depends on how you chose to view the circumstances. The meaning you also make out of it and how you chose to apply it to your everyday life is up to you. I will outline some of the little lessons I've learnt over the years in my sports adventures, and perhaps look forward to seeing yours in the comment section.
Don't always be too quick, Be Patient and allow the process to build you.
Taking a keen look at the current travails of our "celebrity luxury boy" Neymar, one lesson will always stick out its head, and that's the act of being a patient with time. He had arrived Camp Nou from Santos with a dream to become the best of his time and perhaps displace the current football giants Messi and Ronaldo. Despite being one of the most skillful player player, he lacked patience.
This also reminds me of one of my best books "48 laws of Power" by the American writer Robert Greene. If my memory serves me right, the first law in the book is "never outshine the Master." Greene was trying to paint the need for people to show regards to those above them, instead of trying to break through the brick Walls and gain advantage over their superiors. This he said is quite risky and could end up landing one into trouble.
Arriving at Barcelona, Neymar jr disregarded the need to be humble and thrive under the kingship of Lionel Messi. Infiltrated with with pride and hunger to shoot himself up to the throne, he decided to navigate his way to PSG where he is currently regretting not staying back at Barcelona. With his image tainted by controversies and Mbappe overshadowing him in France, the most expensive player in the World has learnt the lesson of his career the hard way. And if he ever finds his way back to the top, he will be grateful to Providence.
Lionel Messi understood the logic of patience and process. He didn't up to leave Barcelona during the days when Ronaldinho was the king, he waited for his moment and instead learned from the legend. We must all master this simple act and allow it to manifest in our Life endeavors.
Learning To Leave When The Ovation Is High
It's always very tempting to try holding on to a legendary feat and thinking we can replicate same or even better in the future. However, most times, the reverse is most likely going to be the case and only the smartest football players have mastered this subtle act. In 2008, the Portuguese young star Christiano Ronaldo lifted the UEFA champions league trophy with Manchester United under Sir Alex Ferguson. He was one of their key players if not their star man. The fans wanted him to stay but he knew that the next season would not be that good for United, so he picked the next flight and touched down at Madrid. He left Old Trafford when the Ovation was high.
The Los Blancos seem to have dropped their dominance in European football and he saw an opportunity to build a legend out of himself in the Spanish capital. He grew to become the best player to have ever wore a Madrid shirt. He knew his peak and understood the principle of leaving when the ovation is high. His last three seasons at the Bernabeu saw him lift the champions league consecutively. Though many have said that he left for Turin because Madrid did not appreciate the legend he is to them. But what if I told you Ronaldo played smart knowing Madrid would not have been so good in the next edition of the Champions league. Now, that's a smart guy.
It's the strategy that his arch rival Lionel Messi hasn't been able to adopt. The Argentine Legend won the champions league last in 2013 with Barcelona. He has held on thinking he will be able to replicate such feat, but subsequent years have only seen him winning individual accolades without getting close to the trophy. And then just like Ronaldo understood this and had to resign after winning the Champions league three good consecutive times with Los Blancos. Just like cryto traders, he knes the beer market was around the corner for Madrid, so he sold his bitcoin at its peak. Now, Madrid had crashed like bitcoin too and he is back to pump it again with Awesome players.
