TRANSFERS: Newcastle give up on Jesse Lingard pursuit

Newcastle are understood to have given up in their pursuit for Manchester United winger Jesse Lingard.

According to reports, the demands of the Old Trafford giant’s are too numerous to be fulfilled by Newcastle. Hence, the would be looking at another option.

The demands of Manchester United

From reports in England, Manchester United request Newcastle to pay all Jesse Lingard's 100,000 euros weekly wages if the move is completed.

Secondly, If Newcastle end up staying in the Premier League and not relegated, on returning Jesse Lingard, they would need to pay a survival bonus to Manchester United. With reports suggesting it could be up to 2.5 million euros.

More to that, Lingard is in the final quarter of his Manchester United contract. Hence, a loan move by this time would be quite demanding.

 

Manchester United's stand

On the part of Manchester United, they seem poised to make it quite difficult for any team intending to take Lingard on a loan deal.

With his contract climaxing in about four months time, the Old Trafford giants are interested in making as much as they can from a loan deal. Considering he would be leaving for free in the summer.

Overview

With Newcastle refusing the loan deal, they could decide to see out the remaining four months of Lingard's contract and get him on a free transfer. Provided another team does not steal his services before then.
