Kebba Arezabalaga, the most expensive goalkeeper in history after moving from Atletico Bilbao to Chelsea for 71 million pounds (80 million euros).

The deal is the most expensive for Chelsea as well, after the 23-year-old signed a contract with Atletico in January and was in effect until 2025 to move to the Premier League and Stamford Bridge.

The deal went beyond Liverpool's move to include Allison Becker, who was the most expensive goalkeeper in history at 66.8 million pounds, until Keba's contract with Chelsea was announced.

The Spanish goalkeeper signed a seven-year contract to replace Thibot Cortois, who is scheduled to join Real Madrid.

Kiba is Spain's second-choice goalkeeper after david de gea, keeper of Manchester United.

He has spent the past two seasons in Bilbao's first team and has played 53 matches in the Spanish league and has one international.

Real failed to sign him last season because of Zinedine Zidane's refusal, although the goalkeeper was only available for 25 million euros.

But Chelsea settled the deal for him and paid for the young goalkeeper more than in July 2017, to join the Spanish striker Alvaro Morata, who included for only 60 million pounds.

"A lot of things attracted me to Chelsea," Kiba said of the deal. "The players attracted me and all the titles that the club have won."

"I am very pleased that Chelsea have decided to trust me and take me as well."

He is the second major player to leave the club this year after Manchester City got French defender Emeric Laporte for £ 57m in January.

A 20-day global record

Before Alison moved from Rome to Liverpool last July, Gianluigi Buffon spent 17 years as the world's most expensive goalkeeper.

Juventus bought Buffon, 40, from Parma for 53 million euros in July 2001, and this figure has been the most expensive in the history of goalkeepers over the past years.

But Allison came this year to break Buffon's throne and set a new record in the goalkeepers' market, but he only held the record for 20 days.
