It was only likely that we would see matches like this as we delve into the latter parts of this competition. Thursday would see those hopes come to pass as Ivory Coast prepare themselves to take on the Algerians which would surely be a feisty match, to say the least. Ivory Coast
Ivory Coast has had a good showing in this Afcon. All fears that their golden generation has long passed seems to be just a mere myth. They have shown that they have a set of young vibrant players who are eager to conquer the world. However, to win this Afcon, they would have to beat their toughest opponents yet Algeria. To do that, they would have to be at their very best. Algeria has shown themselves to real title contenders in this competition and that any team who defeats them would have to be worthy of actually winning them. Discipline and mentality are needed as Algeria would be gunning for a victory.
Algeria
There seems to be no team capable of winning this Algerian team. However, it even goes deeper, there is yet to be a team who would score against them. They are the only team who have gone the entire competition without conceding a goal. Led by the ever illustrious Mahrez, they look like a team who are surely on a mission. However, one of the hardest foes which they would face would be Ivorians. They would have them headlong in what should be a match to the death.
Form
The Ivorians have been in terrific form all tournament long. Finishing second in their group, they also have proceeded to the next round effortlessly with their only loss coming against Morocco. They have bounced back and have continued their race to the top. A win here would mean that they would head to the semifinals with a chance to end up with a medal or possibly even the trophy. There is so much to play for and both teams would see this match as a stepping stone to their dreams.
The Algerians have been fantastic. After securing a win against Senegal, they have simply gone from strength to strength. As earlier stated, they are not only unbeaten but have simply not conceded. In fact, during this time, they have also scored more than 7 goals and are looking good for the title on this performance. However, losses can happen as seen against the hosts and they would have to b serious if they are to get the win which they want.
The game is set delicately and both teams are worthy to go to the next round. However, who is more passionate about it. Who wants it more?
