The second leg of the Spanish cup matches have started and teams keep on struggling to make the next round. After Barcelona thrashed Sevilla to make the next round, all eyes would no doubt be on Real Madrid as they bid to win the Copa del Rey in recent times. Both teams would want to take their chance to go as far as possible in the cup.
Girona
Girona is a team which is currently embroiled in the relegation zone. There are so many teams clustered in the middle half of the table and Girona would have their hands full. However, the Copa del Rey provides them with an opportunity to take a break from the struggle in the league. However, they would be very after the first leg ended in favor of the European Champions. Real Madrid
Real Madrid, on the other hand, would be itching to get this match in the bag. Real Madrid has had a dire record in this cup in recent times. Their history has been filled with disqualifications and early exits to teams that are by far inferior to them. Most of the reasons for their history has been bad form and sheer pure inconsistencies. While this has been the case, their eternal rivals have forged ahead to become champions on several occasions. However, on this occasion, Real Madrid needs to win this match more than ever. The league is almost at of their reach as it has been proven that it would be a two-man race down to the end to the end between Barcelona and Atletico Madrid. They would also be conscious of the fact that the test of retaining their European trophy would be at an all-time peak. With that in mind, their best chance of a trophy would remain winning the cup. This match then would be taken with all seriousness as Real Madrid would look to proceed to the next round.
Form
The form of both teams would also put Real Madrid at a very high advantage. Real Madrid has won five matches out of their last six games. They have lost only once. They are simply on fire at the moment and it would take a great force to stop their flow. They would, however, look to rest several players as their progress is not in any serious threat.
Girona, on the other hand, is in woeful form. They have not won a single game in their last six games in the league. They have however drawn three games while the remaining ones have ended in losses. They would, therefore, understand how difficult it would be to get a win tonight.
It remains to be seen what tactics real Madrid would employ when playing against Girona. However, we can be certain that this game would be an entertaining one. Girona simply has to win and with their home advantage, they will certainly take their chances.
