With Manchester United playing at Wolves, the end of the second week of the premier league has come and gone. With only two teams boasting of a 100% start at the end of the two games, there is no doubt that the EPL season would surely be one of immense competition. When week three start, it is likely to be even more intense as the weeks start to come fast and thick. For teams such as Aston Villa and Everton, it would be a time, it would be a time to solidify and settle quite well into the league. However, one of them is bound to fail in this quest as they would be facing each other in the next round.

Everton

For Everton, it has been a job well done so far. They have managed to avoid any losses so far earning themselves a draw and a win in the process. They sit in 9th place along with a host of other teams which extends upwards till 3rd place in the league. They also have a goal difference of just one heading into this game. Winning this game would no doubt shoot them right up the table. However, it is still early days and they would need to keep their form consistent if they are to live up to their expectations this season. Summer signing Iwobi might just feature in this match as Everton aims to take their unbeaten record in the league to three games.

Aston Villa

Aston Villa has had no such luck this season when it comes to matches. The number of games that they have either won or drawn currently stands at zero. Yes, they have been dreadful so far in the league and things might just continue that way when they face Everton. However, the fact that the match is being played at Villa Park would offer them some form of relief as they would be playing in front of their fans. However, things could backfire as they could be left sweating by a resurgent Everton side.

Form

Av's form would also not be of any comfort. Just two wins and six points out of possible 18 is what they have achieved in their recent matches and that by any standard is simply poor. It would get even poorer when compared with what their opponents have managed to achieve during the same period. One of such things would an unbeaten record with 12 points from a possible 18. This puts them in front in terms of the odds and makes them complete favorites heading into this game.

However, the fun part about this league which we enjoy so much is the ability to create something out of nothing. That is the quality which still gives Aston Villa a chance. After all, we are watching a league where a promoted team claimed the league against all odds. That should tell you that anything can happen in the premier league as far as the teams and coaches are concerned.
