As New Year draws ever draws ever nearer, teams continue to battle it out in the premier league. The busy schedule during the festive season has taken its toll and players would have to play it out if they want to get crucial points for their team. One of such matches which would be coming to the fore this morning is Burnley against West Ham

Burnley’s plans this season have not exactly gone according to plan. They are on a major losing streak which has been compounded with the heavy beating they received when they met Everton in the league this season. This defeat has served the purpose of keeping locked down in the relegation zone area as they enter into the last fixture that would be available to them this year. The loss also meant that in the last two games that Burnley has played, they have shipped in 8 goals in total. They would no doubt be looking to change all that when they meet west ham on the 30th of December this year. West ham, on the other hand, has not had so much joy in the league this season. Their season started off slower than they would have expected. However, they have managed to change all of that and have gone great run of form prior to this time. However, all that was dampened when they lost to Watford in the last match by two clear goals.

The form of both teams is a clear indication of why West ham is currently considered the favorite by a clear margin going into this game. Burnley form has simply been terrible. They have lost five of their last six games in all competitions. Their solitary win coming only against Brighton in the league. They would be desperate to keep themselves out of the zone by winning this match at the Turf Moor. West ham at the other end, have simply been fantastic in recent times. They have won five of their last six matches with the only loss coming at Watford as earlier stated. However, they continued their good streak as they managed to beat Southampton. They would be looking to make it two wins at the bounce when they encounter Burnley at their own home. Recent history also appears to be on the side of the hammers as they have won once and drawn once against Burnley in the last two matches they have played. However, Burnley would be confident playing at home to West Ham as they have only lost six times in 31 matches when they have played west ham at home.

West ham would also have to cope with some injury problems in their team. One of such problem comes in the shape of Marko Arnautovic who is still on the injury list this season. However, with the likes of Snodgrass firing on all cylinder, west ham would have nothing to fear against this plucky Burnley side. Turf moor might just get a befitting end to the season after all.
