The premier league returns in full earnest today as the FA cup rounds have come and gone. Teams would once again have to turn their attention to the league. The team’s at the lower part of the table would be anxious to have a good end to the season. Two teams who currently face themselves in the lower part of the league are Brighton and Fulham. They would no doubt have a lot of expectations when they meet in the league.
Brighton is a team who are on their way towards the mid-table finish. However, to achieve that, it is a necessity to keep winning games regardless of who they meet. They are currently positioned 13th in the league. They have managed to get 26 points from the 23 matches that have been played so far. They find themselves 4 points off Bournemouth who are currently in 12th position. A win here today would see them edge closer to the mid half of the table. However, this match is more significant to Fulham.
Fulham is a team who are in desperate need of a win. They are slowly losing the opportunity to step out of the relegation trap while there is still time. Fulham has managed to get 14 points from their 23 matches that have been played so far. They are currently in 19th position. This match represents a chance for them to close the 5 points gap with Cardiff. This would especially be possible as Cardiff would be facing Arsenal during the weekend. The league is at a pivotal point. There are just 15 matches left in the league. There is also the fact that teams are slowly grappling to save themselves for next season. Their resolve and determination to survive would be tested when they face Brighton in the league this season.
Least of all Fulham's concerns would be their form. However, it is often seen that a team's form can have an effect in the manner in which they play. Fulham has had a woeful time currently they have won just one of their last six games. In fact, their last four games in the league so far have ended in straight losses. These are hard times for Fulham but a victory here against Fulham could be all they need to ensure that they kick on and flee from the relegation zone as soon as possible.
Brighton has not had much joy too in the matches played too. They have managed to win just two matches out of the last six. The remaining matches have ended in two draws and two losses. Brighton would also be wary of the fact that they are now winless in three straight games. They would be looking to stem this flow when they come face to face with a relegation struggling team. It remains to be seen how they would effectively handle this game and power themselves to victory. There is no doubt that this game would be a feisty encounter.
