It has often been said in recent times that the curse of winning the world cup is very much alive. The same fate has happened to the Spanish and German giants, and now the whole world waits to see if it would happen to the reigning champions of the world France as they take on Uruguay in this friendly match.
Not offering any sort of challenge or not being part of any qualifier, this match promises to be quite the spectacle as two teams who impressed during the world cup make their way to challenge each other. The game is primed to hold at the Stade de France on Tuesday. It is fair to say that the champions of the world are in the form of their life right now. They are playing with a confident swagger that befits a champion, and it is no surprise that they are yet to lose a game after six games. France has managed to win four and drew only two and would be looking to add more to their record when they meet Uruguay on Tuesday.
Uruguay, on the other hand, has had a lukewarm kind of activity since the world cup ended. They have won only three of their last six matches and have lost three. In fact, they have lost their previous two games which took place against two Asian countries in Japan and South Korea respectively. It is believed that they would be looking to get back to winning ways, but they would be aware that starting to win against France is a huge task even for a team like that.
Line-Ups
The line is expected to be more of first-team players. Lacazette would play no part of this matches although he was called up. This is due to the various injury concerns his club has for him. Therefore, France’s squad would mostly consist of those who went to the world cup this year. It would also be interesting to see if Giroud and Griezmann would start together or whether the coach would start to use them one at the time. For Uruguay, they would be hoping that Luis Suarez and Cavani is in the form of their lives. When these two parties come alive, there is no limit to what they can achieve. They would be hoping that their presence would be able to shift the match to their favor. Another player who is having a fantastic season is Luca, and it would not be surprising to see him sit in the midfield for his country once again as he did in the world cup. He would be expected to provide some sort of cover for his teammates who are set to have a field day trying to hold back the attacking threat of these French players.
We are set to have a wonderful time watching these two giants go head to head. Even though it is not a competitive match, none of these teams would relax for pride is at stake.
