Diogo Jota celebrates after scoring against Manchester United

Manchester United's chance of going up 3rd on the points table dealt a huge blow as they were stunned by Wolverhampton Wanderers at Molineux stadium.

United started the match as favorites and on positive note as they went 1-0 up inside first 14 minutes of the match, courtesy to Scott Mc Tominay's attempt from outside the box found back of the net. However United's lead did not last long as Wolverhampton scored an equalizer just 12 minutes later.Once again the front two Raul Jimenez and Diogo Jota linked up to rescue their team. Both the teams drew leveled at the half time as the scoreline read 1-1.

Mc Tominay had an early chance in the second half to score his 2nd goal of the match but a quick reaction save by Rui Patricio denied him and kept the scoreline leveled. United's Ashley Young was given his marching orders by referee Mike Dean as he was booked 2 times inside six minutes and United's misery was about to increase as they were down to 10 men on the 57th minute of the match. It was always going to be tough for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's men to stop ever pressing Wolverhampton side with a man less.

Wolverhampton started the 2nd half of the match on more positive note as compared to their poor start in the first half. The Portuguese international Diogo Jota was once again a standout performer for Nuno Espirito Santo's side as he caused endless trouble for The Red Devils through out the game.

Wolverhampton could not somehow capitalize despite having one man advantage over United. Once again United's defence was sloppy as Joao Moutinho's cross into the box on 77th minute found the back of the net somehow beating David De Gea and knowing Chris Smalling had the last touch just added to United's misery. Ivan Cavalerio had the chance to seal the game off for his side in the dying minutes of the game when his powerful shot bounced off the cross bar.

Nuno Espirito Santo's Wolverhampton has had some great outing in the premier league especially against the top six sides. They have justified the image of Giant Killers this season as they have achieved some astonishing wins against some of the best teams in the world football.

Wolves are currently on the seventh place on the points table with this win against Manchester United. While United can find themselves on the 6th place on the points table if Chelsea defeats Brighton Hove Albion at Stamford Bridge. This could turn out to be a huge dent in United's hope of finishing in the top four.
