I share photos and stories of my adventures attending soccer/football matches in Thailand. For this post, I go to a Thai League 4 match in rural Maha Sarakham, Thailand.
About this Post
I received such positive reactions from my previous post like this. Everyone seemed to really enjoy the photos, so I thought I would continue with another post. This week I share photos and stories from a Thai League Division 4 match in a very small, rural town in Thailand. Disclaimer: I am not a professional photographer and only take pictures for fun in the stands with the rest of the fans.
Maha Sarakham city is the province capital for the region. Despite this fact, it remains a rather small sleepy town with very, very few foreigners. I taught English at a local university in Maha Sarakham, and being the football fanatic I am, I attended as many local matches as possible.
Mahasarakham F.C. is the local team and goes by the nickname the "Fighting Crabs" due to the club's crest. The club has been renamed four different times and has had different crests for each time.

2010: Mahasarakham City
2011: Mahasarakham United
2012: Mahasarakham F.C.

The Fans
One of the best things about going to small local matches were the fans. They never ceased to amaze me with their love and dedication to whatever club they supported. Drums, chants, songs, the fans did it all. No matter how small or insignificant the match was, the fans always turned up to cheer their local team along, and they certainly made the matches a lot more fun.
Well that's all I have for this week. I hope you enjoyed this little look into a small footballing world. Football is a common thread among so many people all across the world. Whether you are from small town rural USA or small town rural Thailand, we all speak the language of football.
