Chelsea and Nigerian wing man Victor Moses decided to quit international football just a few days ago on his social media handles. The dimmuntive man played for Nigeria from 2012 till 2015 scoring 10 goals in 28 Appearances for the Nigerian National team.

It begs to wonder why a young man at the twilight of his career would choose to retire early from a national footballing career that helped revive his club career woes. He made the best decision of his life by joining the Nigerian team and I say this because national wise he's won the biggest trophy of the African Continent which is basically the African Nation's Cup having represented England at youth levels.

So many players have chosen early retirement from the National teams and the latest before Moses was Mesut Oozil who retired at 29. However my view of this early retirement charade is as a result of something bigger than they tell the media. One might say Mesut Oozil retired from International football as a result of racist and derogatory remarks but the thing is when a player gives a world class performance when called upon they won't even have to worry about these things in football which looks like it's never ending anytime soon.

INABILITY TO DELIVER TOPMOST PERFORMANCES

Victor Moses stormed the Nigerian National team as a golden boy with a lot of promises and he took the shine on himself and earned the love of Nigerians I remember his two well taken penalties against Ethiopia. He became the darling of the team and after those qualifiers he went on to the Nations cup in 2013 and dazzled with beautiful performances, amazing dribbling skills and a penchant for brilliant goals.

Needless to say Moses enjoyed the creme de la Creme but however his performances began to wane from 2015 his pattern of play which was affected by the managerial changes in the Nigerian team became preposterous. And after a shambolic world cup displayed of which he performaned badly he'd considered the fact that he has nothing to offer the team and that cowardly instincts of abandoning the ship before it sank was also a reason for his early retirement.

THE NIGERIAN NATIONAL TEAM IS TOTALLY HEADING FOR INCLACERATIONS

It will be quick to note that sometimes players retire from their national teams as a result of their lack of believe in the team, Lionel Messi did this after Argentina lost to Chile in the Copa America Final games. His total guttery and annoyance of the teams failure made him retire, this reason is also why the former West Ham player is taking a bow.

The Nigerian football community in general has failed. Corruption, Nepotism and godfatherism is a major factor why Nigeria cannot produce a productive Youth system that can graduate into the national team. Football at the grassroots is terribly and totally non existent. And lack of skill set and a team that can play together for a long time is missen coupled with the inability of the federation to employ good managerial hand.

In a nutshell the Nigerian footballing body is sinking if not already at the bottom of the sea and Victor Moses knows this.

It's only logical, why stay in a team that has no future? Why risk it all for nothing when you can just stay away for good?

He's a smart man and even if he didn't leave when the ovation was loudest, he left when he possibly still can.

UNCERTAINTY OF CLUB FOOTBALL

Its clearly written on the wall, the arrival of Mauricio Sarri to the Chelsea national team has signalled the end to Moses's stinct at Chelsea. The Italians 4-3-3 formation shows that Moses no longer have a place in the Chelsea squad as a result of the top player which definitely he's no match to command a starting shirt.

This will be ringing in the mind of the formal Crystal Palace winger. Even if he didn't leave in this summer transfer window he's likely to move in the December transfer window which of course requires looking for the right club, fighting to stay in the first division of the English League and of course keeping his career going at 27.

This is a burdening period even for any player of any calibre and the having the national team as a extra burden will be totally foolish. He's a desperate player looking to resurface his career and what better first start than to retire from the national team?.
