We have reached the Quarter Finals of the 2018/19 Champions League campaign and just 8 teams are left. We are guaranteed a new winner this season as Real Madrid were knocked out by the Ajax in the Round of 16. Meanwhile, all four English Premier League teams are still in contention and each have a good shot at taking the title. We will unfortunately lose either Man City of Tottenham as they play each other in the QFs.

There are some fantastic matches in store as the journey continues to find the best in Europe. I am sure many are looking forward to Man United vs. Barcelona as well as Ajax vs. Juventus this coming week.

Seeing that we are nearing the end of the season and there is alot of football fans in the Scorum community, i thought why not host my first contest for the Champions League. I have decided this will be a multiplier-type contest where you attach a value to each team and based on the points they score (as per table below), they will be multiplied by the value you have given each team. We had a similar contest for the World Cup last year and i personally thoroughly enjoyed it amongst others.

HOW TO PLAY:

  1. Each contestant must use all 8 teams. (Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United, Tottenham, Barcelona, Juventus, Ajax and Porto) 
  2. Apply a multiplier to each of the eight teams from 1 to 8 (e.g. Juventus 8, Man United 7, etc). 8 being the highest and 1 being the lowest multiplier. 
  3. You can only use a multiplier once. Thus, selecting 8 for Juventus means you cannot use the multiplier of 8 again. 
  4. Comment your selections below this post to enter. 
  5. You only have to select your team and multipliers once, they apply from the Quarter-finals to the final. 
  6. You do not have to upvote or be following me to compete, however, all support is greatly appreciated and can increase the prize pool. 
  7. No entries after the kick-off of the first game on 9th April 2019 at 7pm GMT will be accepted. 

Points breakdown

Points are earned by your teams and then multiplied by your selected multiplier to give your total score. Your teams will earn points as follows:

  • Match win: 3 points
  • Match draw: 1 point
  • Match Loss: 0 points
  • Each goal scored: 2 points
  • Each goal conceded: -1 point 
  • Advancing to semi-final: 5 points 
  • Advancing to final: 10 points
  • Winner 2019 UCL : 15 points
  • Runner up 2019 UCL: 5 points 

Prize pool breakdown:

I have committed a total of 55 SCR to the contest. This prize pool may increase based on participation, support and if any other users would like to contribute to the contest. Currently the prizes are as follows:

Entire Contest

  • Overall Winner (1st place): 25 SCR
  • Runner-up (2nd place): 10 SCR
  • 3rd place: 5 SCR

Per round

  • Highest point scorer (Quarter-final round) : 5 SCR
  • Highest point scorer (Semi-final round) : 5 SCR
  • Highest point scorer (Final round) : 5 SCR 

Example entry and scoring:

A valid entry would be the following:

Liverpool - 8
Barcelona - 7
Machester City - 6
Juventus - 5
Manchester United - 4
Tottenham - 3
Ajax - 2
Porto -1

Lets say Manchester City beat Tottenham 3-0 on aggregate over both legs and move to the semi-finals. The thus score the following:

2 x Match win = 6 points
3 x goals scored = 6 points
Advancing to semi-final = 5 points
Total round score = 17 points (Then apply multiplier of 6 to get final score)
Final score = 17 points x 6 = 102 points

I may cancel the contest should we not have sufficient entrants at the start of the contest.
