It sounds rather ironic that the maximum continental tournament of America is called "Libertadores" the name "liberators" It makes allusion to freedom. It is a tribute to the Latin American heroes who helped free the Latin American countries from the Spanish regime.
And how do they honour the name? Well, simple. Taking the super final to the Santiago Bernabeu in Madrid, Spanish land where exactly are the oppressors from where LATAM was liberated.
Don't get me wrong, I know that Spanish people are friendly and have nothing to do with what happened 300 years ago. I get it. But is very ironic this situation.
Leaving all that aside, Boca and River are already travelling to Madrid. The team who wins this final can mock the opponent's eternally and in the case of Boca being the winner, they can throw in River face the descent and the final won.
If River Plate is the winner, the Boca players will complain very hard. They will say that they were never in equal conditions to compete and that they did not want to play the game. However, this would matter so little for River Plate fans that also will mock eternally of this Libertadores Final won. The fans will say that Boca had a lot of afraid to lost in River Plate's home ground and that's why they cry too hard to suspend the match.
All this situation is very embarrassing for both involved sides, mostly for Argentinians radical's fans how didn't get that this is just a sport. Also for the CONMEBOL confederation who managed all this very wrong, changing of mind every 5 minutes and finally decided to move the final to Madrid.
I am sure that a strong punishment will come from FIFA for CONMEBOL. But to continue with the ironies FIFA forbade LA LIGA to have an official match in the United States.
But they allow the final of the Libertadores to be played in Europe?
I do not understand anything.
