A worker from Nepal died Tuesday while working on the construction of the Al Wakrah stadium, one of the venues of the Qatar World Cup in 2022, organizers said.
The letter of the Committee indicates that an investigation was opened and that later on, they will offer details on the matter, which for now have not been given.
This is the third death of a worker that occurs in the construction works of the World Cup stadiums. The previous ones had been in 2016 and 2017.
This happens in a context in which Qatar still receives questions about working conditions. Fundamentally, from the British press, a country that also tried to organize the 2022 World Cup. There were also criticisms from Amnesty International.
The Qatari authorities have opened the stadiums to the international press to observe the way of working. Also, they have shown the facilities in which the workers are housed, to replicate the criticism.
