The new Nations League starts for Switzerland on the 8 of September at home against Island. Three days later, the 11.09.2018, they are playing a friendly against England in Leicester. In comparison to the Team nominated for the World Cup only 6 players changed. Michael Lang, Nico Elvedi, Josip Drmic, Blerim Dzemaili, Valon Behrami and Gelson Fernandes. They are replaced by Kevin Mbabu, Djibril Sow, Edimilson Fernandes, Silvan Widmer, Admir Mehmedi and Timm Klose.

Swiss Coach Vladimir Petkovic faced some critics for not having nominated one single player of the home championship for the World Cup. With Sow, Mbabu and Ajeti the Super League now is represented by 3 players. This should help the Swiss teams to hold outstanding players for a longer time, allowing the teams to grow and so does the League.
