Iceland and Nigeria are rivals on the pitch as they play in the same group at the World Cup.

However, before their meeting, the Icelanders made a nice gesture.

Carl Ikeme was expected to be the first-choice goalkeeper for Nigeria, but last year, the Wolverhampton player was diagnosed with acute leukemia.

Now he continues to fight against the disease, and Nigeria symbolically included Carl to their World Cup, giving him an honorary number 24.

In their turn, the Iceland team showed their signs of support. They made a special Icelandic jersey with the number 1 and Ikeme’s name, took a team picture with it, and Jon Dadi Bodvarsson, who used to play alongside Carl at Wolverhampton, tweeted it.

A really nice gesture from Iceland!
