Cup matches are just like going to watch a new movie at the cinema, you have almost zero knowledge of what to see in the movie, so you either brace yourself for the shocker or get disappointed at the end.

The atmosphere surrounding cup matches are miles different from those we regularly see on a league match. Last weekend the FA Cup third round was played which spanned from 4th to 7th of January and this time it took a whole new turn as many were left losers, groaning and licking their wounds after a very poor performance and lack of luck in some cases.

About the FA Cup (The Football Association Challenge Cup)

History has it that it is one of the oldest national competition in England and it has long been played since the 1871/72 season and was renamed from the old name to his new name “The Emirates cup” in 2015 and that has stood till date. The competition comprises of a 12 round knockout phase before the semifinals and then the finals with over 700 teams around the English football down to the level 10 teams (the English premier league are the level 1 teams) so you can clearly see the long tussle for the fight to lift the FA Cup trophy which also come with an automatic qualification into the UEFA Europa league and a chance to Play the FA Community Shield match.

Last week drama

●There was a whole lot of power packed drama as four premier league teams stumbled to shock exit from the tournament to non-league side

●Tranmere and Rotherham United had a baptizing of goals

●Then wolvehampton hunted down the Reds of Liverpool

The exists

Gillingham 1-0 Cardiff City
Bristol city 1-0 Huddersfield

The bluebirds of Cardiff city conceded an 81minute goal and with nine minutes plus additional time left on the clock they couldn’t find their way back into the game their opponents from the English league sent them packing.

Huddersfield also lost one nil with an almost the same scenario as Cardiff city, the goal came in the 72 minute but the boys from the championship side were too strong for them to savage even a draw.

Fulham 1-2 Oldham Athlectic

Newport Country 2-1 Leciester city

Both fulham and Leicester city were far favorite to win their games but the result was otherwise at the end, the cottagers had a penalty to level up this buy their Serbian striker Mitrovic missed a spot kick.

The Goal Galore

Tranmere 0-7 Tottenham

Manchester city 7-0 Rotherham United

It was really heart breaks for the non-league side as there were hammered by firing premier league side with spurs Fernando Llorente scoring an hatrick.

The Hunt

Wolverhampton Wanderers 2-1 Liverpool

Jurgen Klopp never saw this one coming he fielded a not too strong side and he was made to pay for it, wolves took the lead first but Divock Origi got the reds back into the game six minutes into the second half but it will be coach Nuno Espirito Santo’s men to have the last laugh as they took the lead four minutes later. Liverpool threw in Frimino and Salah into the game but wolves stood their ground and kicked the premier league leaders out of the FA Cup.

There was a lot of moaning during the cup round but what I have to say to the teams who lost

“I can guarantee you that you will succeed in whatever you are doing, if only you want to succeed as bad as you want to breathe after being submerged in water for more than a minute”
