As it is a tradition for the Epl to play matches during the boxing day and another before the new year, we all know that 80% of this tight premier league fixture has always turned to be upset for many team, you either keep your heads high or drawn in the middle of the river, that is just how it is.

But how things can quickly turn around for Tottenham, one day they were rampant against Bournemouth side and the next they were finding it hard to breathe against Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Tottenham Before the Holiday games

Even though they had a rough start to the champions league but they soon found fortune at the last day of the group match to secure a knockout phase spot in the UCL while back in the premier league they have shown character and determination to mark their name in the spotlight. After a humbling defeat to fellow north London club Arsenal they have gone on six matches without a loss just a draw in their final group game in the champions league and they even recorded a 6-2 heavy win away against Everton which is so far the biggest defeat of the season.

Wolverhampton Wanderers Before the Holiday games

Coach Nuno Espirito Santo’s boys has been one of the premier league surprise this season, everyone would have expected newcomers to struggle when they gain promotion to the premier league but that hasn’t been the case of Wolverhampton, they have pose has threat to many teams. Key players like Raul Jimenez, willy Boly and Matt Doherty has been causing lots of problems for oppositions.

Spurs gave Bournemouth five-star treatment

It is one of those games that you would expect spurs to win and not that they won the game but they did it in a grand style, scoring five times against a struggling Bournemouth side at home. Danish star Christian Erikson started off the scoring 16 minute into the match before Heung-Min Son doubled the lead, the south Korean star went on to score another in the match, other scorers include Lucas Moura and England’s Harry Kane. It was a game too easy for them and they were looking all set for their next game against wolves.

Moaning spurs "The hunted hunter"

After the demolishing of the cherries three days ago which saw them leapfrog Manchester city to take second place in the table tottenham were all set to finish up year 2018 with another banging victory, more so they have scored eleven goals in their last two games (6 against Everton and 5 against Bournemouth) which was a sign of positivity of not just taking all three points but also with another high score line.

Pochettino made four changes against the side that defeated the cherries, Trippier, Colombian defender Sanchez, Toby Alderwereld and Ben Davies set up to make the four-man defense with Sissoko, Harry winks and Christian Erikson forming a three-man midfield with Dele Ali operating just in front of them which means Harry kane and Heung-Min Son will play as a double striker making it a strong 4-3-1-2 formation.

Wolverhampton themselves came with their strong feet as all able legs were on the pitch for a 3-4-2-1 formation with eyes on their top scorer Raul Jiménez. Coming into the match wolves have won just two of their last nine matches and losing five in the process. Spurs has beaten them 3-2 earlier in the season they will be looking to avenge that defeat. Unlike spurs who has led 13 of their 19 premier league games at half time wolves have scored 75% (15) of their goals in the second half so the game had promises of a beautiful and breathe taking game.

So it was wolves who kicks the game off, and as expected tottenham were dominating and threatening the wolverhampton defense and eight minutes to the half hour mark it was Harry Kane powerful strike from outside the box into the left corner to break the dead luck. TOTTENHAM LEADS 1-0 at half time.

As the record speaks for wolves who have scored 15 of their total goals in the second half it was time to increase that tally and the riot started 27 minutes to end of time.

First it was Joa Moutinho cross from a corner into the box that finds the head of Willy Boly who jumps highest to send his header into the bottom left of the post. 1-1 GAME ON

83 Minutes, “the shining star was not to be dim” wolves top scorer Raul Jiménez who showed a nice piece of skill to break through Tottenham players, he paced into the box where he received a brilliant pass to fire home a beautiful strike to beat Hugo Lloris, wolves take the lead 1-2 UNBELIEVABLE.

87 Minutes, a brilliant pass from Doherty into the path of Helder Costa who showed composure with the ball before sending a shot into the left corner of the post, WOLVES LEADING 3-1.

With three minutes to go it was too short for spurs to find their way back GAME OVER and they were banished from second position in the league table to third place.
The firing Side of spurs were torn apart by new premier boys, a game which would have made them title contenders behind Liverpool but it was never to be for spurs on that day as they were left to groan in disbelieve.

My word for Tottenham

○Keep your heads high and stay focus, “you are not far from reaching the highest height”
○Keep fighting “quitters never win”
○Keep the faith “your days of glory is near”
