The Manchester United players returned to the battle for the Top 4. Today Old Trafford was visited by Watford, who this season is a team with a very stable form. The winning FA Cup semi-final and eighth place in the table are not a matter of chance. Even before the intermission, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's charges lost two games in a row and all fans of "Red Devils" were hoping to return to the winning streak.

Squads:

Manchester United: De Gea- Shaw, Jones, Smalling, Young- Pogba, Matic, Herrera (63' Pereira), Mata (63' Lingard)- Martial (77' Rojo), Rashford

Watford: Foster- Masina, Britos, Kabasele, Janmaat (56' Femenia)- Capoue, Doucoure, Pereyra, Hughes (81' Success)- Deeney, Deulofeu (74' Gray)

To my surprise, from the first minutes, the guests dominated in this meeting. United players couldn't get out of their own half, and De Gea had a lot of work. Pereyra and the company were not afraid to hit from a distance and did not have major problems with breaking into the opponent's penalty field. There were many opportunities to score a goal, but at key moments the effectiveness failed. Pogba and the company woke up only after 30 minutes of the match and finally came to the floor. In the 28th minute Luke Shaw behaved fantastically, who immediately led the ball out of his own penalty box and then sent the ball straight to Marcus Rashford's leg. An English sniper quickly mastered football and defeated Watford's goalkeeper with a technical shot.

The goal scored encouraged the hosts to further attacks and now it was the guests who had to desperately defend themselves. It was obvious that such an intensive game from the first minutes, cost them a lot of strength. The "Red Devils" tried to construct actions in a positional attack, but it did not bring the expected results. In the first half both teams showed that they have someone to scare in the offensive. After the break I was hoping that Watford players would play as well as they did at the beginning of the game and we would see a few more goals. Manchester led the game, but he certainly did not impress with his playing.

Guests in the 50th minute already had 12 shots on their account, most of which landed in the stands. The beginning of the second part of the game resembled what happened at the very beginning of the competition. Watford players pushed and wasted more opportunities to score a goal. United players retreated to the defensive and waited calmly for the development of events. In the 72nd minute Solskjaer's charges struck another blow. After the turmoil in the penalty box, the ball happily hit under Martial's feet, who from a distance of five meters simply had to hit the net.

After losing another goal, the guests were aware of the fact that Old Trafford would not take away even one point today. For the tears wipe, in the added time of the game, the goal for Watford scored Abdoulaye Doucoure. Certainly, the result does not reflect the course of the match, because most of the time it was a very balanced rivalry. The guests simply did not take advantage of their opportunities, while the attackers of the "Red Devils" showed deadly effectiveness. With the win, Pogba and the company jumped over Arsenal and are now in fourth place. Now it's up to them to wait for the Arsenal response in Monday's clash with Newcastle.
