Before the League of Nations finals, the Portuguese were theoretically in a better position. First of all, they had more time to rest - they played their semi-finals a day earlier than the Dutch, and in addition, "Oranje" won a promotion only after penalty shootouts. In addition, Ronaldo and the company were at home on the well-known Estadio do Dragao players. However, no player had thought about this before the game, and all fans wondered whether Virgil van Dijk would stop Cristiano Ronaldo.

Squads:

Portugal: Patricio- Guerreiro, Ruben Dias, Fonte, Semedo- Carvalho (93' Neves), Danilo Pereira, Fernandes (81' Moutinho)- Guedes (75' Rafa Silva), Ronaldo, Bernardo Silva

Netherland: Cillessen- Blind, van Dijk, de Ligt, Dumfries- Wijnaldum, de Jong, de Roon (82' Luuk de Jong)- Babel (46' Promes), Depay, Bergwijn (60' van de Beek)

The game of both teams from the very beginning did not look good. The players did not force their pace and behaved as if they had just got out of bed. Unfortunately, the players spent most of their time exchanging the ball in the central zone of the pitch. There was a lack of accuracy and fast passes. Once every five minutes we watched a shot from a distance and then the ball landed in the stands. It was typical football chess.

Time passed and nothing interesting was still happening on the pitch. The level worthy of the final was maintained only by the fans gathered in the stands, who started to invent new chants out of boredom. Unfortunately, today both teams have set their minds on securing access to their own gate, and the isolated attackers were unable to do anything. The game is best illustrated by the statistics of shots - the Dutch did not hit Patricio's goal once in the first half of the game. Fortunately, the judge didn't count anything to the first half, and I was hoping that after the break something interesting would finally happen.

The Portuguese finally started to create dangerous situations at the gate of their rivals. The wings functioned well and we often watched the crossings in front of Cillessen's goal. van Dijk and the company had a lot of work to do from the very beginning of the second half. Continuous attacks of Fernando Santos' charges had an effect in the 60th minute. Bernardo Silva's great pass was used by Goncalo Guedes, who beat the goalkeeper with a hell of a punch. We had 1:0 and the Dutch finally had to come out of their own goal.

Depay and the company did not look like players who want to make any difference at all costs. Long-lasting exchanges of applications in the positional attack were not the best way to break through the Portuguese wall. The game was still played by the hosts and the precious minutes passed. Ronald Koeman's charges have been constructing actions for far too long, thus enabling the Portuguese to organize themselves on the defensive.

In the last few minutes, the players summed up the level of the match perfectly, sending a few missed shots. During the three counted minutes nothing interesting happened anymore and it was the Portuguese who raised the cup. In the final round Ronaldo and the company were not delighted, but as we all know the winners are not judged. The most important thing is that the goal has been achieved.
