In a festive period when most of Europe’s top5 league's team are enjoying their Christmas holiday, Premier League teams are back in actions today on boxing-day matches. After last week’s surprising loss of Manchester City at home, Liverpool enjoyed the Christmas at top of the table. The league leader Liverpool continued their unbeaten run and won very comfortably over 15th place Newcastle by 4-0 at Anfield. Leicester City made a brilliant comeback against last season Champion Manchester City at home and stunned the last season champion by 2-1 to continue their winning run. After 3 losses in the last 4 games, Manchester City is now 7 points behind Liverpool and are moved to the 3rd place in the Premier League table. In other matches, Tottenham annihilated Bournemouth at home and beat them by 5-0 to move in the second place of the Premier League table.

Everton who last week disappointedly lost against Tottenham at home by 6-2, won their Boxing-day match against bottom table team Burnley by 5-1 at Turf Moor. Manchester United is showing some positive changes under the new boss Ole Gunner Solskjaer and won their match against Huddersfield by 3-1 at Old Trafford. Paul Pogba scored a brace for United. Arsenal loses 2 points at Falmer Stadium against Brighton and played 1-1 draw despite leading the game with Emerick Aubameyang goal. Crystal Palace played a goalless draw with Cardiff City. And in a Boxing day’s early kick-off, league bottom team Fulham played 1-1 draw at home against Wolverhampton.

Leicester City 2 vs Manchester City 1

Last week, Leicester City won over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. In today's match, they started the same line-up that beat Chelsea last weekend. Meanwhile, After last week lost at home against Crystal Palace, City made the 3 changes and brought Kevin de Bruyn, Sergio Aguero and Danilo in starting XI. Manchester City took the early lead with a goal from Bernardo Silva in the 14th minute of the first-half. In a great build-up move, City striker Sergio Aguero beautifully passed the waited through ball inside the box in Bernardo Silva’s path who didn’t make any mistake on one versus one with Leicester keeper Kasper Schmeichel and placed his shot on the bottom right corner of the Leicester post. Leicester City reacted very quickly to Silva’s first goal and scored an equalizing goal in the 19th minute of the match. Leicester midfielder Marc Albrighton scored a free header in Jamie Vardy cross. This is the second time this week, Manchester City have lost their lead. Despite creating a couple of wonderful chances, both teams couldn’t score the goals and first half ended Leicester City 1- Manchester City 1.

In second-half, both team continuously pressed hard searching for the leading goal. Some of the Manchester City’s attempts were denied by the Leicester City goalkeeper Kasper Schiemel. In the 36th minute of the second half, Leicester city took the lead with an unstoppable shot from their right back Periera. After Marc Albrighton cross is cleared by Sane, it is controlled by Periera on edge of the box and beat the City’s goalkeeper Ederson by a very powerful shot. In the 89th minute, City's hope to score an equalizing goal was ended when their left-back Fabian Delph was shown a direct red card for catching on Periera's leg with his studs. Leicester won the match by 2-1. After 3 lose in a 4 match, Manchester City is now moved into the 3rd place in the table and they are 7 points behind the league leader Liverpool. Leicester won the 2-match in a row in Premier League and both come against current top4 teams of the table.

This season’s all top 4 scorers Emerick Aubameyang, Harry Kane, Mohamed Salah and Richarlison scored 1-1 goal in their respective matches today. After Today's match, Liverpool registered their 12th clean-sheet of the season. This season they have conceded only 7 goals and scored 43 goals.

After today’s match, Liverpool remained unbeaten and are at top of them with 51 points in 19 matches. Liverpool became the only 3rd team in Premier League to cross 50+ points after the end of 19 matches. Previously, Chelsea in 2005/06 season and Manchester City in 2017/18 season have managed to cross the 50+ points after the end of 19 matches and both teams were succeed to lift the title at end of the season.
