Match Analysis & Stats

In undoubtedly the most exciting match of Premier League GW 23, Arsenal will host their London rivals Chelsea at the Emirates stadium at 5:30 PM (GMT) on tomorrow. With both teams hoping to get qualify for the next season’s Champions League, the importance of the game cannot be underestimated especially considering that neither Chelsea or Arsenal made the cut last year. After Manchester United’s victory last week over 3rd place Tottenham, the competition for top4 has now become even tighter. Chelsea is currently in fourth place, just a point behind Tottenham with Arsenal, and United (41 points) just 6 points behind that. The final 3rd of the season promises to be a great battle with 2 sides and their fans ultimately set to be disappointed.

After the last week’s frustrating result against West Ham, Arsenal surely needs to return back to winning ways or they face the threat of drifting away from the top 6. After failing to win two Premier League matches in a row, Chelsea finally claimed victory way with a very hard fought 2-1 win on over Newcastle last Saturday which has provided some much-needed breathing space between them and the chasing pack. Chelsea will take this match as an opportunity to put a big dent in the hopes of one of their biggest rivals bid to return to Europe’s top table.

In their last 7 meetings between both teams in all competition, Chelsea has won only one and lost 3 times. However, the good news for Blues supporters that win came earlier this season in the reverse Premier League fixture at Stamford Bridge. Chelsea won what was a very exciting 5 goal clash with a score-line of 3-2 and we hope to be able to deliver a match with the same kind of goalmouth action this time around.

Team Stats

Arsenal:

After losing first two Premier League matches against Manchester City and Chelsea, Arsenal enjoyed a 22 match unbeaten run in all competitions under their new manager Unai Emery. However, defense frailties have returned with the Gunners having only kept 3 clean sheets all season and their form over the Christmas period has been mixed as a result. Arsenal is currently conceding nearly a goal and half a game on average (1.45).

At the other end of the field, the home side has attempted 276 shots so far including a fairly impressive 38.6 percent shooting accuracy and further 6 shots have hit the oppositions woodwork. In striker Pierre Emerick Aubameyang the Gunners also have one of the league’s most potent scoring weapons and he has 14 goals in this season’s Premier League leaving him as the joint top scorer of alongside Mohamed Salah and Harry Kane.

Team News and Predicted Line-up:

After returning back in the bench against West Ham, Arsenal’s Hector Bellerin is ready to start in this match. They will play without their injured Rob Holding, Danny Welbeck and Henrik Mkhitaryan on Saturday’s match against Blues. While Mesut Ozil needs the favor of his manager Unai Emery to play in this match.

Chelsea:

Goals have been a problem for Chelsea this year and they have scored just twice in their last 3 Premier League outings (both against Newcastle last week). With Morata seemingly on his way out of the club, it remains to be seen how Chelsea will line-up for this game. There are conflicting reports in the media as to whether Higuaín will be registered in time to play …..

When considering Chelsea’s Sarriball style of play it might come as no surprise to find 5 of Chelsea players are on the list of top 10 highest passers this year. In fact, the team has played 15,371 passes from 22 matches with 88 percent passing accuracy. So far, Chelsea has scored only 40 goals in the Premier League but they have generally been tight at the back, conceding only 17 goals with 10 clean sheets. Their star player Eden Hazard has scored 10 goals and also made assist in the 10 goals in the Premier League and his performance tomorrow could go a long way to deciding the outcome of this game.

Chelsea’s striker Alvaro Morata is still injured and is set to miss this match this match along with Ruben Loftus Cheek. While everyone expecting their manager Sarri to give number 9 role to their star player Eden Hazard.
