This is the Liverpool’s two loss in a row against Wolverhampton in the FA Cup. Liverpool was also knocked out from the 4th round of FA Cup by Wolves in 2016/17 season with the similar scoreline of 2-1. But The 7 times FA Cup winner Liverpool haven’t won the FA Cup since the 2005/06 season, and after the defeat against Wolverhampton, their wait for winning the FA Cup is stretched into another year. After showing a positive start this season in the Premier League, Liverpool fans were starting to believe that this will be their years to win multiple trophies and end their trophy drought. Klopp’s cup games curse followed him this year also and Liverpool is already out from this season’s Carabao Cup and FA Cup. Liverpool somehow managed to enter into the round of 16 of Champions League 2018/19 as a runner-up of group C, but if they want to keep their this season’s cup winning hope alive, they need to pass the hurdle of German giant Bayern Munich in the round of 16.

He started two strikers Origi and Sturridge at the front and handed a debut match for 17-year-old Curtis Jones. In a search of revenge for their earlier defeat in the Premier League, Wolves played very attacking football from the very first minutes. They attempted few shots to the Liverpool post but couldn’t score from those futile attempts. In the 38th minute, Wolves took the lead in the game with a quick counter-attack. Wolves striker Jota took the advantage of Milner’s mistake and dispossessed him, he passed the ball to Raul Jimenez. Jimenez ran nearly 30 yards from the centre to the inside of the Liverpool's box and scored his seventh goal of the season for Wolves in a one on one with Mignolet.

Liverpool made a very good start in the second half and scored the equaliser to the Jimenez goal within the first 5 minutes of the second half. Origi, who rescued Liverpool last month in Merseyside derby scored the powerful left footed shot from outside of the box to top corner of Wolves post. Wolves reacted very quickly to the Liverpool’s equaliser and took the lead within the 5 minutes of Origi’s goal, Ruben Neves’ scored the leading goal for Wolves with a brilliantly placed shot from nearly 25-yards. Liverpool was denied to score the equaliser in the 69th minute with the combined save of Wolves keeper Ruddy and the Wolves goal post. Shaquiri’s curling free-kick was rattled inside the Wolves right post and went out from another side. Wolves keeper Ruddy made a great save to force the ball away with his fingertip before the ball hit the post in Shaquiri’s free-kick. In search of the equalising goal, Klopp throws his big guns and introduced Salah and Firmino after 70 minutes. Liverpool couldn’t score another goal and lost the match by 2-1. Wolves did a pretty good job to have the result in their favour. It was a very tough win for Wolves. Wolves boss Nuno Espirito was very happy with the win and said that he is happy with his players' performance and they now need to quickly focus on their Premier League game against Manchester City.
