Pep has always been a coach I respect because he always delivers and that's one thing that most regular coaches doesn't produce given the same resources as he does. Pep has grown since his time from Barcelona to Bayern Munich and now at Manchester City, he has taken his game even further.

Pep has always been a believer in players holding the ball and he encourages this act from his player (Goalkeepers included). Before his time at Manchester City, he never paid close attention to the quality of players who played as a centre back for him. His philosophy then was that in as much as you can pass the ball and do the basic defending, you are good enough to make his team.

During his time in Barcelona and Bayern Munich, he hardly bought defenders or goalies but all that changed when he got to England. He quickly discovered that most of his tactics won't work and he won't just convert midfielders to defenders and still get the title as he has done for his other clubs in other leagues.

England changed Pep has he invested heavily in defence. He ranks top of the coaches who have spent a lot on defenders as he bought more than five defenders with which one value exceeds over 50 million dollars. The likes of Mendy, Nathan Ake, John Stones, Mangala, Ruben Diaz, Laporte, Ederson has cost the club over 400 million dollars as a combines fees.

In the same vein, he has learnt to buy players who readily fits into his style of play as the English premier league offers little or no time for adaption or learning a new role. That's why I wasn't shocked that Pep was looking to bring in a striker as Aguero left the team at the end of last season. Manchester City has been on the lookout for a new striker and coupled with Gabriel Jesus losing form and unable to attain a standard he once was, necessitated the urgent need for a new player to fit that role.

The first match of the season saw Mancity take on Spurs and they lost by a goal which was scored by Son. Manchester City didn't play badly, but they missed out on a striker who could hold off a defender while creating space for his teammates. Aguero does that well but Jesus has found that hard to accomplish, hence the more urgent reason why a ready-made striker is needed.

Their second game saw them dispatching Norwich by scoring 5 un-replied goals. It is easy to get carried away and feel the need not to get a striker due to this huge scoreline but Pep and Manchester City will be doing themselves more harm than good. The reason is that unlike the game against Spurs where spaces were tighter and the team is composed of more quality players but this Norwich team doesn't possess that quality and they were more open to playing.

Without a striker, Manchester City will still win games but winning the league or trophy is something that appears very unlikely to reach. Most big teams will most likely play the same way Tottenham did and hope to punish Man City on the counter. With a quality striker upfront for Manchester City, the story will be different and it offers another alternate for Pep side if their normal tiki-taka style fails to deliver the intended result.

With that at heart and getting a traditional ball playing striker, Manchester City have a chance to claim any tournament title they engage in/
