The super eagles of Nigeria had battled the foxes of Algeria for a total of 20 times, with the super eagles wining 8 matches, Algeria wining 7 and five draws. This encounter that will happen at the Cario stadium later today will be their 21st meeting.

NIGERIA.

Nigeria started the tournament against Burundi and it was a shaky start. The first half ended goals with Nigeria not being able to take one shot on target. They got a lucky goal in the second half from an improved display and they deserved the victory. From their they played a Guinea side that had no idea of what they were doing by one goal. Their match against Madagascar was a distractous outing in which they were thrashed 2-0 and this caused a lot of unrest in the team.

Their knockout performance has been great and a much improved football game has been cited but they still make mistakes at their backline. Having played 3-2 against a very physical Cameroon eho re the current holders of the AFCON title, they clashed with south Africa who dumped the AFCON host Egypt out of the tournament with a one goal win.

ALGERIA

Algeria has been excellent so far in the yea AFCON tournament. They have a well balanced team which is mixed with youth and experience. They started the tournament against Kenya, wining 2 nil, before facing wining Senegal and also winning their last game 3 nil against Tanzania. They proceeded to the next stage and faced i.e round of sixteen and face guinea, beating them 3 nil also before facing Ivory Coast in the quarter final and wining on penalty after playing out a 1-1 draw after xtra time.

Their defense and sharp attack have been their target point and they have tidy up things at the back which has kept them going.

REVIEW IN SHORT

Judging by the matches and caliber of teams played against, Algeria have been the best team so far. They have the best defense in the tournament, also their attack have been spot on and also the best. Conceded just a goal and scored 10. Their captain Mahrez have led by example even though he has not been in top form, yet he has performed admirable well. The team strength comes from being a compact force and that has kept them going.

Nigeria on the other hand have performed okay too but have been shaky at the back and their forwards have been wasteful in front of goals . the strength of Nigeria lies in their midfield with Ndidi ans Etebo marshalling and controlling the midfield while chukwueze Samuel dedicating the forward play. They have provided cover for the shaky defense And also help the poor attackers.
