To cut to the chase, the first part of round six of the group stages match was played tonight. a lot of unexpected results and outcomes were seen but above all, none was as disappointing as the first of the talking points to be discussed.
Racism in football is still a thing
The match between Basaksehir and PSG was suspended and to be continued tomorrow due to a racist incident on the pitch. The racist comments were said to the assistant coach of Basaksehir by the fourth match official. The action that led to Webo (Basaksehir assistant coach) being racially abused was because he expressed his displeasure to a referee decision and he protested from the touchline. This is normal in football matches but the outcome of that action has no place in football.
The Basaksehir players refused to continue the match which was still 0-0 at 14 min. The match was indefinitely suspended as both Basaksehir and PSG players walked off the pitch to show their stand against racism.
The Real goat played tonight in the Barcelona versus Juventus match
It was all bad tonight as my Goat turned up in Group G. The match was billed as the match of the night and it didn't disappoint. Ronaldo faced Barca for the first time since his switch from Madrid 2 seasons ago and he delivered as usual. It should be recalled that he missed the first leg of the match through injury.
Messi and Barcelona on the other hand had a bad night as they did not only lose the match but they lost their position on the log of the table too. They came down to second place as Juventus climbed over them.
Ronaldo two goals and Weston McKenzie's volley were enough to wreck the Barcelona team who has been off form for a while now. Messi, on the other hand, didn't have a game but those around him in Barcelona shirts seem unworthy to play for the club and they may be major changes at the club come January.
Machester United do what they do best, they lost as always
Regardless of not being a fan of the club, one would ordinarily feel pity for them as the team looks set to qualify after round four of the group stage match was played. Before the kick-off of round 5, Manchester United topped the group with three points more than any other team. They were so sure of qualifying for the next round but catastrophe strucked in the round 5 and 6 matches as they lost both to direct rivals.
This won't seat well among the club hierarchy and it won't be surprising to see the red Devil's Coach hunting. Ole has much of the blame to bear as he purposely left one of his key men in the person of Pogba out of the game due to a comment made by his Agent. Although he was later introduced into the match his goal in the 83rd minute could not salvage the situation.
Although PSG is yet to play their match, Manchester united has been kicked out of the competition as PSG was a superior head to record.
