The league is becoming much harder as the day passes by. The team which was supposed to be the smaller teams has started giving the supposed top teams all sort of trouble. At first, it was Southampton, then it switched to Aston Villa. Those two teams are currently occupying the top 10 of the league table.
Lately, it has been West Brom, Fulham, and Newcastle. This team is in the bottom ten with West Brom and Fulham in the bottom two. With West from gaining some points against teams like Chelsea, Man City, and Liverpool, one will think they are in for a title fight. Meanwhile, they are fighting for survival.
Fulham on the other hand has not been left out also. Their performance has greatly improved in recent games and although the points haven't started coming in, they got a deserved draw tonight against the spurs team.
Some may argue that they deserve to win the match against Mourinho's side as they were more hungry and faster. Tottenham was sloppy in their all-round display today and a win would have been an unfair result to the more agile Fulham sides.
Spurs display was below par and that makes one wonder if all is well at Mou camps. Well, for now, all seems well aside from the little faults in the team.
Firstly, the team's over-reliance on the Son-Kane telepathic combination is becoming very easy to predict. Of all the top-flight goals scored by this Spurs side this season, only 4 have come from other players aside from Son and Kane. Teams are defending against this and it's making goals harder to come by.
Talk about fatigue and tiredness, Tottenham players are suffering from it. Earlier this season, Tottenham has to play Europa qualifiers and that was energy-sapping. A lot of first-team players were utilized and that is telling on the team performance.
At the moment, Tottenham stars have played more games than their rivals and they seem to be in all the competition still available for the wining. They are currently in the Carabao cup final and the next round of the Fa Cup. The Europa League and the premier league is still a possible title that Mou will strive to wind due to his competitive nature.
Furthermore, the poor defensive set up Mou inherit at this Tottenham side. Spurs are the team in the English league to lose more points from winning positions. Their inability to stop leaking goals has been one factor that has worked against them throughout the season.
Mourinho's method is outdated. The era of defending and always to hit on the counter is becoming obsolete. Teams have learned to defend against it and most are perfect at it. The counter-attacking game seems to be looking ground most especially in England and one as to switch tactics to thrive in the league.
Mourinho is one of the best brains in the game and he always responds well during pressure. Let's cross our hands and watch how he plans to turn things around with his spurs team.
