Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, who was invited to Moscow to be present at 2018 FIFA World Cup opening game between Russia and Saudi Arabia, had a quick kickabout with the tournament's mascot Zabivaka immediately after landing.
Lukashenko received a red-carpet welcome from Russians with Zabivaka hugging him right after the Belarusian leader descended from the ramp. President received a ball from the mascot wolf and quickly asked two of his men to stand as goalposts. Zabivaka was the goalkeeper.
Lukashenko, who is known for his proficiency in ice hockey, made three shots on "target" beating Zabivaka twice. The third shot was saved by the "goalkeeper". "It's a save, which means that Russia will win today", Lukashenko commented.
From video it is clear that "the goalpost", Belarusian president's close ally and head of tennis federation Sergei Teterin, helped Lukashenko to score by moving.
Lukashenko was present at Russia vs Saudi Arabia accompanied by his sons Nikolay, Viktor and Dmitriy, Russian Prime Minister Dmitriy Medvedev, Azerbaijani president Ilham Aliyev and Bolivian leader Evo Morales, as reported by Belarusian newspaper Nasha Niva.
