I can start this story by telling you he loved to play football and dance the samba dance on the streets of Brazil when he was young. But that is boring and no one wants to hear about that.

.....................................

I could also tell you how he joined Barcelona from PSG, and there conquered the world dazzling us with his moves and spectacular goals. And in the process won the Best Player award. But you already knew that and wouldn't be surprised.

I would however tell you of one particular match, where he silenced opponent fans and the world with his moves.

..............................

It was a starry November night 15 years ago, the date was November 19th 2005. Another El-Classico, and Eto'o gave Barcelona the lead on 15 minutes but many have forgotten that fact because of what happened next. Ronaldinho scored two goals, but not any ordinary goals. He dribbled the whole Real Madrid team, and even some of his teammates and best Iker Cadillacs. Cadillacs sagged his shoulder, bowed his head and shook it sadly, Roberto Carlos was confused and didn't know how to control Ronaldinho. The Real Madrid fans couldn't help it, they all stood up and gave Ronaldinho a standing ovation.

...............................

In spite of the fact that this was a rivalry that had gone on for decades and would go on for decades more, in spite of the fact that the next day they would go back to hating him. In that moment they just couldn't hate him, because they knew they were in the presence of greatness and were fortunate to behold it with their very own eyes. They all rose and gave this beast a standing ovation. Never again has it happened, whether in the El Classico or any other Classico around the world that opponent fans gave the player a standing ovation.

Ladies and gentlemen, here was a legend, a god amongst men, and now a myth.
