Only 13 teams participated in the world cup, Argentina refused to participate because its president, Juan Domingo Perón, did not want to send a team to Brazilian lands because of differences with his government. In addition, Scotland, Portugal and India, which had already qualified, also decided not to participate. The British considered that they did not belong to play the World Cup, the Portuguese argued that they had technical problems and the Asians refused to participate because they did not let their players play barefoot, as they did in Mumbai or New Delhi.

There is no exact number of deaths, but they were recorded in dozens, no doubt nobody was prepared for what had happened.
The person who paid more for this event was the goalkeeper of the Brazilian team, the embarrassment had been such that they could not find a better way to vent, than to blame the goalkeeper Moacyr Barbosa, who was blamed for the final goal that gave him the victory to Uruguay and from that moment on he was rejected by the Brazilians who even denied him entrance to public places and / or booed him.
