According to media, Barcelona president Joan Laporta and Gerard Piqué have reached an agreement on a restructuring of the defender's contract when the two profiles met. The Spaniard did the same in October last year, where he agreed that he could be paid the remainder of his salary a few years later than planned due to the financial consequences of the Corona virus.

He has now again agreed to restructure his contract in favor of the club, giving Laporta and the rest of the board a better chance to rectify the current difficult financial situation that the Spanish giant is going through.

In addition to the contract change, Laporta and Piqué should also have discussed at the meeting how the aging Spaniard can avoid being injured as often and as much as he did last season. Piqué himself hopes to become one of the big and important profiles for the Catalans in the coming season.
