Lord Triesman's British nobleman and lawmaker said Britain should consider hosting the 2022 World Cup if Qatar were found to have violated FIFA rules. Qatar is rumored to be dismissed as the host if proven sabotage during the process of World Cup bid 2022 in 2010 ago.
"If Qatar are proven to violate FIFA rules, then they can not keep the World Cup, it is not wrong if FIFA consider England in such a situation," Triesmann said as quoted by Standard on Monday (30/7).
One of the Sunday Times's English press carried a report stating Qatar had sabotaged the United States and Australia out in the 2022 World Cup bid process. Reportedly Qatar hired a US public relations firm and a former CIA agent to propagandize the two countries are eliminated during the bidding process.
Qatar won the right to host the 2022 World Cup in December 2010. The same time Russia was chosen to host the 2018 World Cup. At that time, Qatar won just one vote from England who also offered to host the World Cup in the same year.
Prior to this sabotage case, Qatar was also accused of corruption in the bidding process. But the allegations were unsuccessful after FIFA conducted an investigation for two years.
The Sunday Times reports that Qatar hired a professor for $ 9,000 to write about the poor economy of the United States if it hosts the World Cup. Qatar is also suspected of hiring journalists and bloggers to spread bad news about America and Australia.
The report also contains a document stating Qatar is recruiting associations of American sports teachers to ask US lawmakers to reject the idea of a World Cup in the United States. They were asked to push the budget used for the World Cup into additional funding for sports development in high school.
Triesman, who is head of Britain's bid to host the 2022 World Cup, said FIFA should follow up the evidence further. He thinks England is more deserving to host the World Cup. "We have the capability," he said.
