The family took a trip to Dick's Sporting Goods last night

Happy Halloween!

Two days ago, I asked for your help choosing what to spend $100 I received from my grandma for my birthday, which is today. Inspired by your ideas, I spent $25 ($24.99 to be exact) last night, and I wanted to share that experience and my purchase with you.

We don't go shopping very often as a family, so the boys took advantage of the space in the sporting goods store and immediately began to run around. I did my best to wrangle them in and ask them what we should get.

Before going into the store, I decided that I would spend $25 here on one or several items that we could have fun with and that were sports related (obviously). One of the comments I was inspired by (@sport-frei) recommended that I buy a football ("a round one") to play with my family. We actually don't own a full-size soccer ball, so I was planning on at least seeing what they had there.

Before visiting the "soccer" section, we strolled by the American football aisle, which was packed full of footballs and merchandise. I had no clue that there were so many different styles of footballs available.

For the authentic (style) of NFL football, it would've taken the full $100 to purchase! Man, these are expensive! I did consider buying a cheaper football, but I want to steer my boys towards safer sports. However, if their heart drives them towards a sport like American football, I can't just forbid them from playing. I can, however, explain the risks.

I turned my back for a minute and my oldest had already slipped on a batting helmet. He looked good in it. I'm not sure if he'll be a little league baseball player, but I'd love to see him play baseball.

Finally, we made it to the soccer section of the store where there was a wide selection of balls from $10 - 100. I was surprised with the cost of a ball, I actually thought they would be more expensive. The boys seemed to be interested in getting a soccer ball and they promised they would play with me (we'll see). I grabbed the cheapest ball and we moved on to other sections of the store to see if there was anything else worth buying to have some fun with.

The boys were very interested in the golfing section where they began swinging clubs like baseball bats. I had to step in to help avoid any injuries and help them use properly (kind of). Nothing in the golf section was in our price range, but it was a fun few minutes putting balls. We'll have to go mini golfing sometime soon.

After stopping at a few more aisles, I found a high-quality frisbee to throw around with the boys so I decided to add that to our final purchase. The total after tax came to $24.99. Since it was night time, we didn't get a chance to play with them, but both of the boys each held one on the drive home.

What's Next?

Now that I've spent $25, I have $75 left to use for my birthday. Stay tuned for more, and again, thanks for following my adventures here on Scorum and for interacting with me.

What do you think of my purchases? What do you hope I do next?
