West Ham picked up their second consecutive victory on the road on Saturday after defeating Crystal Palace 3-2. Despite the close final score, the first half was all Hammers.
The scoring began with Michail Antonio finishing a beautiful cross from Said Benrahma in the 22nd minute. Just three minutes later, Manuel Lanzini scored his first of two goals. The second of those goals came on a penalty kick in stoppage time before the end of the first half.
Crystal Palace continued fighting, and scored in the 83rd and 90th minute to bring the match within one goal. In stoppage time (90+4), Crystal Palace had a wonderful chance to tie the match on a Mateta bicycle kick. Watch the highlights above to see just how close he was.
Obviously, I am pleased with the result as a West Ham United supporter. The second consecutive road win puts West Ham once again in 5th place on the EPL table. The Hammers are now a single point behind Arsenal, and a single point above Tottenham, who also secured a road victory on Saturday.
Next up for West Ham is an FA Cup match against Leeds United, an EPL match against Leeds United, and an EPL match against Norwich City before traveling to take on a struggling Manchester United team.
