Jose Mourinho fears he is fighting a losing
battle to save his job as Manchester United
manager after being contacted by Zinedine
Zidane.
United’s miserable start to the new season
Show news depths on Saturday after
Mourinho made significant changes to his
side, including dropping Alexis Sanchez , but
saw his team comprehensively beaten by West
Ham.
Zidane has emerged as the overwhelming
favourite to succeed Mourinho, having vacated
his position as Real Madrid manager at the
end of last season after steering the Spanish
giants to a third straight Champions League
crown.
The 46-year-old was last week reported to
have started taking English lessons with a
view to coaching in the Premier League. Zidane has been in
touch with United’s beleaguered manager in an
attempt to allay some of his fears.
Zidane, concerned Mourinho thought he could
be plotting to take his job, confirmed he has
been sounded out by his own representatives
but is yet to be contacted by United chiefs.
United host Valencia in the Champions League
on Tuesday evening looking to end a three-
game winless run and Mourinho has warned
his players they must match his level of
commitment if they are to reverse their recent
fortun
