With the transfer window closing today, White Hart Lane is nervous. Tottenham are struggling to get any business done and coach Mauricio Pochettino is frustrated. The biggest concern for the Spurs coach and their fans should be that after three years of progress, this may be the season Tottenham lose momentum. The start of the season may see the side falter, as the Spurs sent 12 players to the World Cup, 9 of which have yet to return from vacation. For that reason, the London side need more depth and an injection of new blood. But it's looking less and less as if that will happen this summer. Unless chairman Daniel Levy pulls off a late transfer, Pochettino will have to make do with largely the same group of players as last season. The Argentine will be hard-pressed to find success against improved PL rivals armed with only the same old faces.

That being said, I believe the team will be just fine. Tottenham’s strength comes from how consistently they continue to perform without spending too heavily in the transfer market. The side has placed third in two of the last three seasons, and look to prove again that money isn’t everything. Pochettino has built a very balanced squad who are strong across the pitch. Their attack and attacking midfield is perhaps their most potent unit, mostly due to the dominance of Harry Kane.

Their only weakness this upcoming season will be their depth and the Spurs could lose serious quality with just a couple of injuries. Otherwise, the team’s chemistry should remain flawless like last season and their high pressing tactical play style should also remain untouched. It is difficult to tell if the lack of transfer business will cause too many problems, but if they can maintain previous quality, a top three finish should be well within reach. CAN THE SPURS DO BETTER OR HAVE THEY SIMPLY SETTLED FOR CL QUALIFICATION??
