Host nation Cameroon eliminated debutant Comoros from the ongoing AFCON 2021 tournament to enter into the quarter finals.

Everything went against Comoros just 7 minutes into the game when Jimmy Abdou was shown a straight red card following VAR review. This is coming in the absence of their goalkeeper Salim Ben Boina injury in their tremendous win over Ghana and back- ups Moyadh Ousseini and Ali Ahamada all subsequently testing positive for Covid-19 with Ajacco left back Alhadhur to take care of the goal post.

Karl Toko Ekambi and Vincent Aboubakar goals on the 20th minute and 70th minute to beat resilience Comoros team who have fought all through the match to remain their formation. Despite being one man down Comoros were able to pull one back 9 minutes before the end of the match with a stunning free-kick from Youssouf M’Changama.

There is a report that 6 persons died in a stampede as a result of fans trooping out of the stadium after the match and about half a dozen persons are injured as well. Confederation of African Football (CAF); the organising body of tournaments in a reports confirmed the incident and have open investigation into what transpired.
