Chelsea football club last night put yet another shambolic performance away from home. Going into the game Thomas Tuchel and his boys knew that a win in Russia will guarantee them a top spot in-group H which invariably means that they will avoid the strong teams in the knocked out stage of the Champions League next year. Despite coming from some runs of abysmal performances in the last couple of weeks in what can be attributed to long list of injuries rocking the team, it was expected that the Champions League champions irrespective of the team selection was capable bypassing Zenit Saint Petersburg.

However, Chelsea poor performance continued last night as they failed to hold onto a winning lead for just 2 minutes more. Timo Werner had put Chelsea ahead with Chelsea's fastest goals in the Champions League within a minute and 30 seconds but two successive goals from Claudinho at 38th minute and striker Azmoun ensured that the first half ended badly for Chelsea.

Second half resumed with Lukaku equalizing at the 62th minute and both teams where looking for the winning goal. Despite Chelsea maintaining overall possession of 58%, Zenit Saint Petersburg were the better side and posed more threat than Chelsea. In fact credit must be given to keeper kepa Arrizabalaga for wonderful says he made in this match.

Timo Werner scored what was the winning goal for Chelsea at the 85th minute after it was confirmed by VAR that it wasn't an offside. It was a moment Thomas Tuchel must have had little believe in his changes and team selections but that faded away 2 minutes away from the added 6 minutes extra time when substitute Magomed Ozdoev unleashed an unstoppable volley in front of the 18-yard box unmarked which left kepa's efforts a mere attempt.

With this result, Juventus finished top of the group H with 15 points after a 1-0 home win against Swedish side Malmo and Chelsea runners up with 13 points. Chelsea will be praying hard not to be drawn against Bayern Munich in the next round of the Champions League but we definitely face one of this team Real Madrid, Lille, Ajax or Bayern Munich.
